AfterMath

Jessica stared down at her hands. They were tan. She laughed quietly. It was amazing what a few doctors could do to a girl. After the fiasco at track Jessica had told herself to get in gear. It was the most frightening day of her life, but her friends and family had helped her through all of the hard times. Plus, Evan had helped her and Jeremy and Jessica had a new closer friendship, which Jessica was grateful for.

She smiled lazily at her friend. Jeremy, Stan, and Trent were where they were just a few short weeks ago, lounging outside, except this time Jessica didn't have any secrets and the rest of Big Mesa's football gathered.

Jessica rolled onto her back and sighed happily. Sunbathing was her absolute favorite thing to do. Especially when a whole bunch of hot fellows were just across the fence. Suddenly Jessica's peaceful day dreaming was stopped. Someone had tapped her shoulder. She turned around slightly and gasped. Will.

Will stared down at the goddess before him. He smiled slightly. God, did he love her. He had finally worked things out with his Dad. It looked like that he and Jessica could be together now.

"Hey, Jess. What's up?" Will asked, pushing Jessica's legs to the side and sitting down next to her on the lounge chair.

Jessica shoot up, glaring at him. "Why are you here?" She asked coldly.

Will smiled. Just my Jess, he thought. "I want to get back together with you, Jessica. I know that you don't want to, but, honey, we can make it work this time! I don't want Melissa. I never did. I've wanted you since-"

"What?!" Jessica shouted, standing up. Will glanced nervously at the neighbor's yard where a whole bunch of guys where looking at Will.

"Let's get this straight, sweetie. You broke my heart three times. I almost killed myself because of you. Do you understand that, Will? Do you know how much I hate you? Stay away from me. I don't ever want to see you again. Never, Will. That means don't call me at work, don't say hi to me in the halls, and get over it, ok? I hate you."

Will stood slowly, barely gripping the sadness that threatened to make itself known. "Jess.."He croaked out.

Jessica looked up at him, anger filling her aqua colored eyes. "What, Will? What do you want from me?"

Will's torture suddenly turned to anger. Why does she make me go through this? he though savagely. "I want you, you slut." Will laughed at Jessica's horror. "Remember that song, sweetie?" He snarled.

The anger that had seemed to curb suddenly reappeared. "You couldn't get any with me, Will. You are more the type to dream about it at night then to actually have a girl." Laughter snorted from Jessica's chest. She smiled slightly. "Now, I want you to go away, understand?"

Will frowned, tight lines drew across his brows. "Sure. Having sex with Evan now?"

Will practically saw Jessica's stomach clench. Her eyes silently raged her lips quivered. Before Will knew what was happening, a hand punched him right in the nose. He stumbled back a few steps, and suddenly he was surrounded in cool water.

He struggled for a moment, but managed to stand up in the pool.

"Don't ever talk to me that way again, Will." And with those eight words, Jessica Wakefield was no longer his.
