Conner smiled slightly at Jessica.

?"What does that mean?" She asked, laughing. "I hate it when you smile, man. I never know what the hell is going on in your mind."

Conner glanced back at Jessica. "You are such a loser, Jess. I don't even know why I hang out with you."

Jessica smirked. "Because you loooooove me!" She crooned. She readjusted herself on the bleacher that she and Conner sat on. Normally they wouldn't be hanging out together alone, but they were both trying out for Sweet Valley's track team.

Conner eyed Jessica's skinny face. It seemed like she was loosing more and more weight each minute. Every time he looked at her he felt like she was drifting away. It scared him. As everyone knows, not much scares Conner McDermott, but a girl who was trying to kill herself for someone who barely noticed she was alive made him very angry. Conner eyed Will Simmions from across the field. He was joking around with his jock friends. Sometimes he wanted to smack that loser.

Will glanced at Jessica and Conner warily. Why can't it be talking to her? He thought sadly. It was finally time to come clean with himself. Even though he hated to admit it, he was a punk for dumping Jessica.

There she was, thinking he wanted Melissa over here... All Will really wanted was Jessica. But since his father had threatened to cut him off from everything, and to not pay for college. It really worried Will. His father said he could only date Melissa to go to college. What else could he do?

Coach Gordon jogged to the the bleachers, a huge smile spread across his young face. "Hey guys!" He called. "Everyone come down to the first six bleachers please!"

Jessica stood up and walked down to the sixth bleacher and looked at Conner. They both smothered smiles. This coach was a piece of work. Jessica thought smiling happily to herself. Hanging out with Conner was great. He was such a nice guy, and he talked to Jessica about Evan. Ever since the concert Evan and Jessica had grown closer and closer ... and Jessica had become more skinny as each day passed. Each time she looked in the mirror she smiled to herself.

"That's about all of the rules, guys! Now, lets go do some laps!"

The teenagers groaned and climbed down the bleachers. Jessica and Conner were somehow moved to the front of the group. As the coach ordered the group the amount of laps to do, Conner and Jessica burst away from the group. We run well together. Jessica thought. She was glad she didn't have to hang out by herself.

Conner glanced over at Jessica. She seemed to be loosing a some of her steam. Every time she took a stride she seemed to weaken a little bit. She wiped the sweat from her brow and slowed down a tad. Her breaths became shallow.

Conner immediately stopped and grabbed her shoulders. "Jessica! Are you ok?" He asked.

Jessica nodded slowly. Conner dragged her towards the center of the track. When they came to a shaky stop, they happened to be in front of Will and his cronies.

"Is Jess all right?" Will asked suddenly, running towards Conner. Conner looked up bitterly.

"Go to hell, Simmions and stay the hell away from Jessica." Conner bit out.

"Conner!" A voice yelled. Conner's head snapped up. Evan was sprinting across the field, his eyes wild. Jessica looked up numbly at Conner. She smiled serenely and dropped to her knees. Her head fell into her shaking hands.

"Oohh." She moaned. By then Evan had reached the three. He dropped down next to Jessica and pulled her head up. Evan looked at Jessica's terrified face.

"Conner! Call an..." Evan trailed off, Conner was already running towards the locker rooms. "Baby, it's Evan. Don't worry, sweetie. Everything will be fine. I'm not going to let anything happen to you." Evan whispered, pulling Jessica into her arms. Please let her be all right. He prayed silently.

Will glowered at Evan. Get your dirty hands off of her. He thought angrily. No one deserved to touch Jessica except for him. It made him sick to think that his Jessica was with this jerk. But he could never reveal his feelings to Jessica. Never.

Jessica shivered. Evan's here. She thought, inhaling the scent that surrounded her. It felt so good to be with someone as safe as him. She didn't know what was going to happen to her, but she hopped it happened with Evan holding her like this.
