Jessica Wakefield's steady boyfriend, AJ Morgan informs her that he's going away
for the long weekend to visit his grandparents for their 50th wedding
anniversary. Jessica gets really depressed thinking that her weekend is going to
be horrible without him. Her friends annoy her by not sympathising with her.
After feeling neglected when her friends leave her alone at the beach, she meets Christopher, a charming and good looking surfer. He romances her the entire time AJ is away and Jessica goes along with it, thinking there is no harm when she'll end it when AJ gets back.
Unfortunately Christopher has other ideas. He falls madly in love with her and when she dumps him, he starts calling her house everyday and following her around. He threatens to tell AJ about the weekend if she doesn't go out with him again.
It all comes to a head at the Citizens' Day Ball when Christopher, mistaking Elizabeth for Jessica, takes her away from the party and forces her into the trunk of his car by knifepoint.
After realising Liz is missing, Jessica and Jeffrey go looking for her. Jessica sees Christopher trying to drive off in his car and runs in the path of it. He gets confused, thinking that she got out of the trunk somehow. As he tries to grab her, Jeffrey jumps on him and they start fighting. Jeffrey eventually pins him to the ground.
After all this, Jessica realises that she isn't ready for a serious relationship and breaks up with AJ.
