SVH:
Okay I hope I don't sound like a mother or an elderly person when I say (write?)
this, but what seriously irks me is the old Sweet Valley High books. Senior Year
is okay but SVH? Ugh! You always see all the teens featured in the stories in
their perfect little happy lives! Yet they sometimes seem to have a unrealistic
soap opera plot added to the mix as well. (Except for the Earthquake
mini-series which I liked very much)
Liz:
How perfect was Elizabeth in Sweet Valley High? She was the twin who was never
wrong. The twin everyone adored. The twin with the perfect grades. I actually
enjoyed it when Liz turned into rebel mode in the Senior Year series.
Jess:
exactly how many boyfriends in the old series did Jessica have? (and how come
they end up dying or heartboken? Can't Jess stay steady or single for once? Take
your pick) True Jess is still stringing over guys, in the new books, but she's a
little more caring in the SY stories.
The Models:
Finally, what is up with the twins on the covers of SVH? They look like they
came right off the set of baywatch. In other words, they do NOT look 16. In
Senior Year, the models look like there teenagers like they should.
I guess my point is that I love SVHSY better. (Can you tell? lol...) The plots are more intense, the storylines are realistic (for the most part), and these books seem more targeted at teens.
