Tough Love Youth Group

Goals:
1. To give fellow students an alternative to destructive behavior
2. To promote self-improvement by enhancing stress management
3. To improve communication techniques
4. To promote positive peer pressure
5. To refute the idea of youth as unconcerned and goal-less
6. To spearhead the dissemination of prevention techniques and information
7. To set an example for youth volunteerism

Participation Requirements:
1. Students may join at any time during the year with $1.00 in dues per year
2. Officers must attend at least three of the regularly scheduled meetings per month
3. Members must attend at least two of the four regularly scheduled meetings each month unless a legitimate excuse is given to the sponsor or one of the officers prior to the meeting
4. Members must be active for at least one semester prior to elections in May in order to be eligible for nomination and to be able to attend the club trip in May

Projected Projects:
1. Participate in the following school/community projects:
A. Work toward the prevention of any negative behavior
B. Promote teen/community/feeder school activities
C. Participate in Homecoming festivities
D. Spearhead Red Ribbon Week activities
E. Sponsor Alcohol Awareness Week in April
F. Be an advocate of teen pregnancy prevention
G. Be an advocate of teen suicide prevention
H. Do hall bulletin boards as assigned
I. Update pamphlet file
J. Communicate with staff about latest prevention information
K. Be involved in money-raising and fun activities
L. Have member representation at state conventions
2. Sponsor club field trips
3. Boost membership of those dedicated to the cause of prevention efforts

Meeting Dates:
The Tough Love Youth Group meets every Thursday after school until 3:15. Officers also meet every first and third Wednesday after school to plan agenda.
