The following rules apply for the 8000 and 9250 Hot Farm Classes
Rule Changes for 2022=Water Injection-466-175 drop RPMs 2.8 inch wheel measured with a slug no cut wheels 2 nozzels no further than 3 inches from the turbo on the cross over. Others motors drop150 RPMS from respective RPM limits no turbo restrictions 2 nozzels no further than 3 inches from the turbo on the crossover. With any tractor choosing water injection-No computer controlled electronics must be mechanical control,No methanol maybe used.1 year directors evaluate at end of 2022. 3 way shut off valve will be mandatory for all tractors-Needs to be no more than 24 inches from the pump and return back to the tank, driver accessible shut off with harness on.
2019 Rule Changes=Roll Cages will be mandatory in the 2019 pulling season, no production pulling tires will be allowed ONLY ag tires, metric tire sizes equivalent to the 20.8/38 tires=480/60-42 & 520/85-38, All blocks and heads must be stock OEM, Mandatory in 2019 all RPM bumps must be facing the outside of the pump.
ENGINE = Cubic inch limit of 650 for all three classes. NO air to air after coolers and NO ice boxes are allowed. Exhaust manifolds and intake manifolds must be OEM. If the engine was naturally aspirated and there is no OEM turbo charged intake manifold available, one may be manufactured. Exhaust pipe must extend a minimum of 18 inches above the sheet metal with no curves or rain caps. Must have two 3/8" grade 5 bolts installed 90 degrees from each other less than one inch apart in the exhaust.
INTERCOOLERS = Factory intercoolers are only allowed in the 9250 lb hot farm class. No modifications to the intercooler are allowed besides the air inlet. If using an intercooler the intercooler must be covered with hood, side panel, or a shield. The intercooler must be one common radiator with the engine water. Wet block inter-cooled tractors run water through the radiator and dry block can run a max 5 gal ambient water temp caught with any ice or dumping between pulls will be disqualified for the season.
INJECTION PUMP = Simms A-pump is considered equal to Bosch A-pump. Any tractor that originally came with a Roosa Master Pump is allowed to run a Bosch Model 100 Pump, if they so desire. Any tractor with a rotary pump can run a Bosch A-pump. NO recast A pumps will be allowed. RPM Stop must be facing outside of pump. John Deere 6030 is allowed to use a P-series injection pump. Injection pump must match rear end (i.e. 6030 rear end uses a P-series pump whereas a 5020 rear end uses a rotary pump (see rules for rotary pumps above.)) No P-series pumps are allowed to enter the 8000lb. class.
TURBO CHARGER = Only one turbo charger is allowed per pulling vehicle. No limit on size. The use of Variable Geometry Turbo Chargers is not allowed.
R.P.M. = Factory RPM is allowed in all classes (refer to RPM chart). 2400 RPM allowance for BBJD, Ford 2900 RPM, 2850 RPM allowance for Massey Ferguson, expiring for the 2020 pulling season, the RPM’s are checked after unhooking from the sled and is over 10 RPMs or higher than allowed the puller will be disqualified and lose the points and prize money from that class for that pull. Show points will still be awarded.
FUEL = Diesel fuel only, NO water injection, NO nitrous injection, NO alcohol, NO turbo charger propane, NO pressurized fuel tanks.
RIMS = Steel rims are only allowed on the rears, front aluminum rims are allowed on the steer axle. Hubcaps and wheel covers are allowed.
TIRES = Maximum tire size 20.8-38’s or 18.4-42’s or metric equivalent=480/60-42 & 520/85-38. Tractors may run cut tires; bias or radial tires are allowed. NO production pulling tires will be allowed AG tires only.
BLOCKS/HEADS = All blocks must be stock OEM for make and model of tractor or a direct bolt in replacement from the same manufacturer, that requires no modifications to engine or bell housing. All heads must be stock OEM heads, random head checks throughout the year can be made by officers. No deck plates allowed.
CHASSIS/FRAME = Maximum of 114” wheelbase, unless originally produced with longer wheelbase, then must remain stock length. The maximum length of 13 feet from center of rear wheel to forward-most portion (excluding the front hitch). Any OEM modular or composite tractor must meet all component tractor rules.
SHEET METAL = All sheet metal must be stock appearing and in stock location. Fiberglass nose is allowed. Frame rails must match engine frame rails on a White/Oliver chassis may be used in place of the heavy factory belly pan. (Sheet metal may be upgraded/beautified for cosmetic purposes only. Contact IHFSPA officer or board member for details.)
DRAWBAR = 20 inch drawbar height. Drawbar length can be no shorter than 18 inches form center of axle to the point of hook. Drawbar must have a hitches at 3x3 1/2 inches hole with a minimum of 1 square inch of steel at the rear of the hole. Drawbar shall be constructed so that in the event of a breakage the drawbar supports do not pull from a top link above the centerline of the rear axle of the tractor. 1 hooking spot is allowed if multiple spots are on tractor they must be covered.
FRONT AXLE = No narrow fronts allowed, wide front ends only. The front tires must run in the same path as the rear wheels travel in. Homemade front axles are allowed. The tractor’s front axle must be + or - 1 foot of the original factory placement.
WEIGHT BRACKETS = Front weight bracket must be no more than 2 feet in front of nose cone of the tractor. The rear weights must not exceed the back of the rear tires.
WEIGH-IN PROCEDURES = All tractors must weigh in for each class they qualify to participate in with an officer before being a points contestant in a sanction pull.
CERTIFICATION = If you miss the Certification/Weigh-In at the first pull of the year OR announced certification/weigh in location, the following must be followed. You must contact an Officer or Board of Director member, other than yourself, before coming to the pull you wish to first compete at. You must be on time as set by certification member (minimum of 1 hour) before the start of the event. If you do not follow these procedures you will not be allowed to compete in that event.
SAFETY EQUIPMENT
- All tractors must have an intake air shut off to hook to the sled with a 2 inch ring mounted as close to center of the back of the tractor as possible. Must not be fastened to the seat, under the weights and MUST be in clear view. .
- Air intake shutoff must be spring loaded to assist in the closure of shutoff.
- Tractor must be equipped with “dead man’s” throttle.
- All tractors must have a neutral or clutch safety switch.
- 3 bar roll cage must be constructed of steel, minimum of 20 inches apart, and maximum of 10 inches high and must protrude past the back plane of the rear tires.
- All tractors MUST be equipped with tie bars made of material sustainable to hold tractor in event of breakage.
- All tractors MUST be equipped with a working ABC type fire extinguisher. .
- All tractors MUST have fenders and they MUST be capable of holding the weight of the driver. Top of fender must have no less than a 6inch top over tires.
- All tractors MUST have working brakes.
- All tractors MUST have two 3/8” (grade 5) bolts in exhaust pipes.
- All tractors MUST have a fan shroud.
- A FULL fire suit must be worn (full suit includes jacket, pants, shoes, neck-brace & gloves).
- All seats must have a minimum of an 8-inch backrest and 5 point racing harness.
DISQUALIFICATIONS
- Driver does not remain seated during the entire pull.
- Loss of weights during the pull.
- Any object including but not limited to weights falls off the tractor while hooked to the sled.
- Excessive leakage of water, fuel, etc.
- Hitch breaks from sled.
- In the event of a disqualification the points will be awarded for last possible place at the directors discretion.
If caught for disqualifications more than 2 times in a pulling season, future pulling is to be decided by the Illinois Hot Farm Stock Pullers Association Officers & Board of Directors with a maximum punishment of disqualification of one year and ten days.
GENERAL RULES
- ZERO TOLERANCE to drivers drinking alcohol before pulling, if driver is caught drinking they must find another paid member to drive or forefit their pull for the event and the driver will have an immediate 10 day suspension further actions will be decided on by the officers. There will be no alcohol consumption until tractors are loaded.
- ALL decisions made by the judges, sledman, and officials are final.
- NO UNSPORTSMANSHIP LIKE CONDUCT WILL BE TOLERATED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Upon officers decision unsportsmanlike conduct can result in the associated parties loss of points for the event or suspension.
- Tractors will have two attempts to start the sled as long as they have not gone past the 100-foot mark under power and have made an attempt to stop.
- First puller in each class will have the right to either keep or reject the pull or drop to the 6th or last position which will be decided before leaving the track. If puller has a mechanical failure they may drop to last if approved by directors, other than themselves, then they MUST keep that pull no matter the distance.
- Contestants must have a valid driver’s license to enter any contest. If the puller is under the age of 18, he or she must have a written consent of a parent or legal guardian. NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
- If the tractor goes out or touches the chalk before 320 foot or full pull mark they will be disqualified unless they were the first puller and take the 6th option.
- If it is decided by the sled operator or flagman that your tractor is out of control, brakes from the sled may be applied or you will be flagged to stop. If so you will be measured from that point and there will be NO re-hooks allowed.
- If the tractor is RUNNING the driver MUST BE IN THE SEAT of the tractor can result in 10 day driver suspension.
- Notify at least 2 directors before a pull after changes have been made to tractor, which might affect the weight or safety of the tractor. If not in compliance with this rule you may be disqualified for a maximum of one year and ten days.
- ANY tractor may be protested for engine cubic inch for a fee of $250. 00. IF after tear down the tractor is found to be of legal size, the protested individual will be given the $250.00. If the tractor is found illegal the money goes back to the protester and illegal tractor and driver will be banned from any further pulls for a time of one year and ten days and will lose the accumulated points for that season. Refusal to be torn down will be counted as an automatic disqualification of one year and ten days. The tear down must take place in a secure location.
- 30 days notice to be given prior to any new hook to run for points, or existing pull that has a time or day change.
- Rules may be changed, deleted, or added during the pulling season with the exception of safety rules.
- Annual meeting will be held once a year and time and date will be announced.
- Any and all rules that are for safety purposes can be changed at any time by the officers and directors, breaking of rules will be taken into consideration for necessary suspensions by directors and officers.
MEMBERSHIP DUES
- Dues are to be paid for by April 1st $150.00 per tractor and 1 driver $35.00 per extra driver.
- Dues paid after April 1st are $175.00 per tractor and 1 driver $35.00 per extra driver.
- When dues are paid on the tractor, the tractor must go down the track to be eligible to have voting rights.
- Extra driver’s name will be specified on dues receipt and membership card.
- $35.00 dues will be paid for a one-night membership. The tractor may compete for money, but NO POINTS.
- Only two votes are allowed per paid tractor. Member and/or driver must be present to vote.
