Indeed it is not one hundred per cent elaborate as the Broadway production but it is
definitely one of the best BATB presentations I ever saw, which for a reason I
enjoyed much more when I saw the official production. The lavish costumes
and the set used for this production makes this presentation near perfection.
And I am sure that this DVD will be enjoyed by all who watch it and is definitely
a special treat to all fans of the show. Recorded with two cameras on a tripod with
action well followed. I cleaned the footage and split it on two DVDs along with animated menus.

Billy Elliot The Musical - April 28th 2006
Leon Cooke as Billy
The only video of this show out there, but it's an incredible show.
Stunning performances by Leon and Brad. Cast members other than Billy are best guesses. Video is
quite good considering that the person taping was dodging a grand total of eight ushers constantly
walking and sitting in the aisles around them. Starts at the end of Billy's boxing lesson, mostly cover-ups
until earnest filming starts at Solidarity. Various other cover-ups scattered throughout because of
aforementioned ushers but most of the dance numbers are perfect. Includes the dance megamix after curtain.
A nice mix of full, mid and close shots to match the action. Right third of stage blocked by a head,
but that rarely matters. Incredible close-ups when the situation calls
(want to read Billy's acceptance letter).
Steady filming and very little spotlight washout.

Kiril Kulish (Billy), Haydn Gwynne (Mrs. Wilkinson), Gregory Jbara (Dad),
Carole Shelley (Grandma), David Bologna (Michael), Santino Fontana (Tony),
Grant Turner (u/s Older Billy/Scottish Dancer).
Nicely filmed from the balcony with a good balance of close-ups and full stage shots, although a little shaky at times.
This is the first (and so far, only) video with Kiril Kulish in the role of Billy. Unfortunately about 15 minutes of the
show is missing due to battery issues. What's missing is: Grandma's song We Go Dancing, the scene between
Dad and Tony, the beginning of Deep Into The Ground, and the scene between Mrs. Wilkinson and Dad discussing
Billy's ballet. It appears the filmer was trying to conserve battery power and was trying to focus on Billy's scenes.
DVD has been enhanced with main menu and thumbnail images for access to the various songs

David Alvarez (Billy), David Bologna (Michael), Leah Hocking (u/s Mrs. Wilkinson),
Jayne Paterson (u/s Mum), Liz Pearce (u/s Clipboard Woman).
Interesting to see the show with Leah Hocking in the role of Mrs. Wilkinson-she has a different interpretation,
which is very good. Well filmed. One head occasionally in the shot, but filmer does a good job dealing with it.
The camera had a broken pixel, so there is a small blue spot on the bottom center of the screen, but it's not too
distracting. Crystal clear. DVD has been enhanced with main menu and thumbnail images and song selection.
Scanned Playbill information also included.

Rare musical staged in the German expressionist style. Music by Tom Waits.
Book by William Burroughs. Lots of good close-ups, but some shakiness as well!
"Tapers Notes"A few moments of shuffling due to head obstruction.
Keep in mind this was my first attempt at taping a show, but the DVD is
still quite watchable. Very talented cast, but Matt is
WONDERFUL.
Nigel is also in top form here...you can hear my "Whoa!"
as he starts Crossroads. Includes chapter selection menu.

David Soul (of Starsky and Hutch), Delia Hannah, Stefan Dennis, Ross Girven, Tina Regtien.
Original Australian Cast. This is an interesting disc, as the first act was filmed in Melbourne, and the second act was filmed in Sydney
where David Soul took over the role of the Narrator. Act one is filmed from the balcony as a bootleg, and the second act is filmed
from the wings of the theatre, so in addition to seeing the action onstage you see the crew working in the wings, and the actors making
the entrances and exits...it's all actually very interesting, and because it was filmed backstage you are much closer to the action.
The disc is not complete, but it's about 85% of the show. Also includes a backstage TV special, and other footage of members
from the cast performing at what looks to be a church. Some generational loss.

are less than 30 seconds each; slight little washout in some of the wides, and there's
one head on the left that blocks the actors' legs occasionally; very good video

Early piece by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Don Black. I think this might be a Sydmonton performance.
Not too bad quality, some age loss, but still sharp and clear. You find the Cricket video in the middle
of a bunch of clips of performances from various musicals. Michael Ball and Susannah Fellows performing
"Seeing is Believeing" from Aspects of Love, Frances Ruffelle singing "Nobody's Side" from Chess, some
Lion King footage, and a few performances from the "Broadway's Lost Treasures" compilation.
Quality of these varies, but is never too bad. Interesting disc!

received the Tony Award for Live Theatrical Event and was met with unanimous critical acclaim.
Barry Humphries (Dame Edna Everage), Roxane Barlow (Ednaette), Tamlyn Brooke Shusterman (Ednaette) & Phil Reno (Keyboards).
Edna entertains Broadway audiences with talk of England's Royal family, baby sitters, the lifestyle choices of her children
(ushering in the song, "I Never Thought I'd Meet So Many Friends of Kenny...") and her late husband's prostate difficulties.
She also tends to remark on audience members' clothing choices and home decorating skills, but only "in the most loving way."

Nice capture of the final show on Broadway, featuring "You're the One that I Want" contestants
Derek Keeling and Ashley Spencer, American Idol's Ace Young, and Helene Yorke in her
pre-Glinda days; a few blackouts, but most of them are very short. The longest one is during the
scene in Marty's bedroom, and it lasts about 2 minutes, but the video starts again before
Freddy, My Love. The first couple minutes of each act are also blacked out, as is the very last
minute of act two; a couple of heads in the way, which get annoying at times, but taper tried to
work around them; very slight washout, good sound with closeups and wide shots

Uwe Kroger (Pharaoh), Hannes Muik (Joseph),
Lucy Thoulds (Narrator), Peter Faerber (Jacob/Potiphar).
A must-see... takes 'camp' to the next level as far as a production of "Joseph" is concerned.
Starts out with some random Egyptian chanting, the costumes, sets and acting are crazy
over-the-top, the music has a 'hip-hop' vibe to it, and Potiphar's wife is wearing a thong!
Very nice quality, just slight generation loss, and a bar/railing is in the way sometimes.
Sung in English, with the narrator pausing to speak in German occasionally.
Slight audio problem for a few seconds during "One More Angel In Heaven."
