Rare. Barbra Streisand's Last Performance as Fanny Brice. "A" qualtiy, however, considering age and
conversion it's decent. There is a lot of cracking and hiss, but again, being that this was recorded 40 years ago,
it's very good. If you know of the cast that was present during this performance, please e-mail me.
I pulled the cast list from IBDB and have no idea if this is the correct cast.

This is a preview preformance at the Barbican Theatre ith the original Royal Shakepeare Company cast,
before the transfer to the Palace in Dec '85. Transferred from cassette. Decent sound for its age,
some tape-warp at times. Some different bits and earranging of sections, especially the placement of
"Stars". Quite magical to hear how it all started.Note: Missing "Confrontation," a few lines of "In My
Life," and part of the final battle.

Missing the overture, bits around the well scene and
about 15 seconds of of 'Javert's suicide '.
Great
quality, considering its age. Lea stopped the show
with her "On My Own."

1st Generation - Taper says...
A better audio than all my other masters, little hiss and no overloading
except slight buzzing on the extremely loud parts, and a better sound balance overal, although
it's a little on the quiet side. Contains the whole show from the pre-show announcement to some
of the playout. Quite a decent show ? not exceptional, mainly due to Connie Fisher's weak,
tired-sounding vocals and her overly-comic acting ? but Margaret Preece brings the house down
with her "Climb Ev'ry Mountain" ? it's well worth to get the audio just to hear how great she is.

Norma Desmond ? Patti LuPone, Joe Gillis ? Gerard Casey
Betty Schaefer ? Meredith Braun, Max Von Mayerling ? Daniel Benzali
This is the last ever performance that Patti Lupone gave as Norma Desmond.
This is also the final night for most of the OLC. Gerard Casey (who wasn?t the original Joe)
is better than Kevin Anderson. After this performance the show was revamped before
having its next star: Betty Buckley
the song With One Look is missing
Was a C sounding audio, after working on it I'd give it a B+ now

Whoever taped this show sat on top of the sound system I think !
very loud, and the voices are drowned out a bit, I have remastered
it and toned it down, so it's not as loud as before, voices still aren't
as vocally clear as should be, so a bit hard to appreaciate the songs

Faith Brown and Earl Carpenter
Excellent recording, First time I've heard Faith and I love her Norma !!
Earl does a fantastic Joe Gillis as well
Very clear audio ... the last song on Act one was screwed up, so I have replaced
it with a track from the Melbourne show, it's the New Years song, being it's most
of the cast singing, it's not really noticeable.

A nice audio of an outstanding cast. The lacking amplification of the actors means some dialogue
(when spoken over the orchestra) is not particularly clear, so this is recommended for those familiar
with the show. Some slight buzzing on particularly loud parts, though it's hardly noticeable, and this
is probably my best master so far, with the second act particularly clear as it has little hiss. Bryn, as
expected, is fantastic: what a voice and completely dominating onstage, the best performance out
of all of the cast. Friedman is similarly great, both comic and sinister. Daniel Boys holds his own
with his lovely voice as Anthony, and Williams has a sweet voice for Johanna. Evans is the most
fantastic Tobias, naﶥ and chilling at the end; Quast is great as Judge Turpin, as is expected.
