Last Update December 1st 2010
Wow 5 years ago, way to long, I need to get motivated again
Welcome to my Musical Trading List
As you can tell by first look at my pages, Phantom of the Opera is my obsession, I like to call it DEDICATION !
I'm also interested in Wicked, Sunset Boulevard, Cabaret, and Les Mis, I've been lucky enough to collect a wide range of musicals,
and I'm always interested in hearing something new, and getting the chance to listen to a show, I probably never would
have had the chance to, if it wasn't for the trading world.
So please feel free to contact me, it doesn't have to be all about Phantom :|
I'm very newbie friendly, and like to help out the new kid on the block, I'll always remember what it was like starting out,
and somebody can slap me if my ego ever gets bigger than my list, so however small your list, don't hesitate to contact me,
something can always be worked out
Contact me
All of my audios either have been, or are waiting to be remastered by me, to improve the quality,
I take them into an editing program, and get rid of annoying coughs, hiss, heavy bass etc,
whilst keeping the originality of the show
You will see I have quite a few new listed items, if you choose any of these, it means they haven't been edited,
so I do not know if an audio is imcomplete etc, unless otherwise noted
You can take the audio as is...
and by saying taking AS IS,
also means in some audios, the tracks may be numbered,
without titles or in WMA or M4a format, so please be AWARE of this.
If you want me to edit them before sending, please let me know, as it takes a couple of days
sometimes longer,
depending on the audio.
So audios marked **NEW** are yet to be remastered actually some new are getting quite old,
and are just waiting to be remastered, sometime this century I hope to finish !
** I'm slowly changing the "NEW" to N.E. which means "Not Edited"
A lot of these audios are to old to be New!
Of course Phantom usually takes precedence, hence why the backlog of the other musicals waiting
A few of the Phantom audios are descriptions by jstarz927, and I've left them that way cause
I agree with most of what she says :) you will see where I've added about editing, and my thoughts as well

Shan Cothi, Ann Adlene, Lee David Bowen, Hayley Driscoll
Sold, your number, sir - was missing, but I have replaced it. A solid, excellent boot...
Full show and very clear. Bardsley has a wonderful lyric tenor voice.
He's lacking in the emotion department at the beginning but
soon gets into his groove, I especially love his maniacal laughter.
Charlotte is brilliant, love her vocal range
Firmin and Andre work well together in this show,
I really enjoyed them in "Notes" and "Prima Donna"

Preview. In German. Borchert's first preview in the role. He is slightly uncomfortable when
facing high notes, otherwise a decent performance for a first ever. Gr has a lovely operatic
sound to her voice, a great Christine. Brucker's on the dull side. Missing the Il Muto bit from
"Serafimo, away with this pretense" through Buquet's hanging.

Phantom of the Opera - Salt Lake City - July 18th 1999, 3rd Natl Tour
Ian Jon Bourg (u/s), Megan Starr Levitt (alt), Richard Todd Adams
The sound is a bit dull, as if recorded in an enclosed space: the taper either
used an internal mic or else stuck the recording device under a jacket.
4 seconds of Magical Lasso were missing as well as some other flip-points:
Don Juan Rehearsal and some of the screaming after Don Juan, but I've been
able to replace them.
Definitely listenable and the cast is excellent.
Bourg does an amazing devastated angry Phantom.
Levitt has a beautiful vibrato and has clearly had operatic training.
Adams is one of the few Raouls that didn't strike me as stiff and dull.
And the actress who plays Carlotta, whoever she is, is incredible.

Ian Jon Bourg (u/s), Susan Owen (alt), Lawrence Anderson, Donn Cook, Glenn White (u/s),
Liz McCarney, Olga Talyn, Mark Calkins, Susan Zaguire (u/s)
HIGHLIGHTS. The best quality recording and the best performance by Bourg in English.
a bit of analogue hiss was able to remove most of it, starts at Christine singing TOM,
Magical Lasso, Notes and Prima Donna were missing from act 1 which I replaced from
another audio of the same year, ...Act 2 starts at Why So Silent, and is missing "Before the Premier"
it was also missing Madame Giry's tale, Notes2 and Rehearsal of Don Juan, which I also replaced
to keep the show flowing, if you want this audio without the replacements, it can be done

Earl Carpenter (u/s), Katie Knight-Adams, Ramin Karimloo
First performance of the new cast, and Earl's first performance ever
(he makes quite an entertaining mess of his first Mirror lines).
I believe he should take over as principal Phantom at the next cast change.
He really is good on this recording. Katie messes up a line or two on the roof.
But all other faults within the cast can be forgiven because Earl is just so wonderful

One of the only and definitely the best quality audio with all three London standbys/understudies.
Was a little on the quiet side but crystal clear with no overload anywhere.
I've managed to bring out the voices so that it's not so quiet now
The best performance by Carpenter I've heard: he doesn't struggle at all
and North just gets better and better, especially her vocal quality,
Solomon is a great understudy as well.

Mono sound, recorded with digital voice recorder so the sound quality isn't great,
but still listenable. Vocals are mostly clear, except for the orchestra drowning out the softest lines.
Sound is somewhat muffled and has occasional hiss, with a pretty faint mechanical hum during
some parts. The instrumentals are hard to discern during tracks like Overture and title song.
The lead trio are good as always; supporting cast is just alright.

First Generation
Earl Carpenter, Rachel Barrell, David Shannon, Wendy Ferguson,
James Barron, Sam Hiller, Rohan Tickell, Annette Yeo, Naomi Cobby (u/s).
Recorded from front row centre, so the orchestra is very clear, and what a vibrant orchestra it is!
Some overloading at loud parts, for example, the Overture and title song. Other than that, this is a
lovely audio of a lovely performance - great performances across the board, especially Rachel, as
this was her final matinee. Her Think of Me is mind-blowingly good, as is her Wishing - she received
a standing ovation for her performance. Earl is good, although his acting is far superior to his vocal
performance. David was also very solid. As this was the final matinee of this particular cast, there
were some funny moments throughout the show, the most audible of which being the (very) camp
Policeman in the Pit, which is guaranteed to make you giggle.
Includes the curtain call, but not the playout.

Very old and rare...the only London audio with Caine I know of. With the CD transfer,
it is now stereo and most of the tape hiss has been removed. Louder parts are much better than softer ones-
the noise still overtakes the quiet moments in the show. Great quality for its age, some random spurts of distortion.
No overload anywhere but at louder parts, there isn't much dynamic change. Starts at Lot 663, Missing a small
piece of Notes and a chunk of Wishing, both due to flip points.
Crawford really gives a good show- his MOTN ran over six minutes.

This is perhaps the 1st audio of Gray from Broadway and he is very impressive in the role.
A rare recording of Hugh Panaro as Raoul with Karen Culliver as Christine.
The sound was a little muffled at times and somewhat hissy, I've managed to take
most of the hiss out, and it's sounding much clearer.

Mark Jacoby, Karen Culliver, Hugh Panaro (as Raoul)
Very emotional performance by Mark, he's shot to the list of my top Phantoms
the track "Why have you brought me here" sounds a tad to fast, some high speed
dubbing through out in act 1, which I've managed to sort out in some places
act two is much clearer and Mark sounds fantastic
Soundboard isn't hooked up to all microphones equally, and for this reason you
can hear many things you don't normally hear live: Christine's nervous breathing
before TOM, Megs comments after the gala otherwise very good audio

Excellent quality of an excellent cast. Janssens has a very good, powerful voice,

Also, some percussion additions and orchestral pieces after the performance included.

Phantom of the Opera - London, UK - September 9th 2008 **NEW**
Ramin Karimloo, Gina Beck, Simon Bailey
An excellent-quality audio with crystal clear sound and one of the first to capture the new digital sound system of the London
production. The overture has been beefed up (notice the extra percussion) and the title song orchestrations are now akin to the
Vegas version. Ramin clearly puts his all into the title role and rocks it up (note the Steve Harley-influenced way he sings the
word “stronger” in the title song), although he is arguably a bit young for the role and so doesn’t convey the paternal side of
The Phantom. Gina Beck is the best Christine since Rachel Barrell, with immense acting talent and a superb voice, while Simon
Bailey seems to like shouting a lot. Barry James is an amusing Firmin, even if his voice here sounds very similar to the voice he
used for Thénardier in Les Mis, but Kate Radmilovic’s Carlotta is very serious and is not particularly humorous. This was the
third evening show for this particular cast.
Other cast members: Barry James (Firmin), Gareth Snook (André), Kate Radmilovic (Carlotta), Heather Jackson (Mme Giry),
Tori Johns (Meg Giry), Rohan Tickell (Piangi).

The only known audio of Large in the title role. No three second pauses between continuous tracks
(example - The Mirror and Phantom of the Opera) but slight pauses between non-continuous tracks
(example - STYDI and Il Muto). Phantom-heavy HIGHLIGHTS, approximately 80 minutes long -
Act One starts at Piangi's "Amateurs!" and goes to the end of Stranger Than You Dreamt it, then
starts again at "away with this pretense" in Il Muto to the chandelier crash. Act Two starts right when
Red Death makes his entrance (right when they scream) and goes to Raoul's first "Madame Giry,"
then starts again at the Don Juan Rehearsals (right when the piano starts playing by itself) to the
last note of the show. Quiet recording and there is a quite audible hiss throughout. Norman is no
Michael Crawford; although some of his mannerisms and speech patterns remind me very much
of Michael, he doesn't have the same stage presence. Dale...she seems off in this one,
I usually like her but she seems rather dull in the first act. Steve is wonderful, as always,
and really steals the show. Wandering Child is the trio and NO ONE can pull off the trio like Steve.
The audience is quite enthusiastic - Norman receives a lot of applause.

Opening night. Like my other Singapore masters, this has some hiss and buzzing on loud and high notes.
The buzzing/overloading here is especially evident because I was sitting very close to the stage this time
round, hence this audio is more skewed to the B+ part of the rating. Very enthusiastic audience, probably
partly because it was opening night. The entire cast was very much into the show tonight, which was great
because the show was awesome, especially on Brad's part. I was pleasantly surprised that David got to go

Has some hiss and buzzing on loud and high notes. Brad and Ana have the most remarkable

Final performance of the show in Singapore, and also currently Brad Little's final performance as Phantom
unless he gets asked back again. Has some hiss and buzzing on loud and high notes.
The buzzing is especially evident here (making this audio closer to the B+ part of the grade)
as I was relatively close to the stage. Applause sounds a little distant as my limited view seat wasn't
close to the general audience, making my own applause sound very distinct.
The show was simply electric, the cast really gave it their all and I was completely blown away.
Brad's delivery of the final line was absolutely heartbreaking, it was the first time I'd ever heard anyone
sing the final line that way. Also, I applauded after his final line and nobody else followed along, and this (mortifyingly
enough) can be heard on the audio. I then went on to blow the mike out with my cheering during curtain call, which is included.

Beautiful digital audio. You can hear the MiniDsc writing during quiet parts.
Some skipping now and then especially on a little bit of MOTN. Howard gives a wonderful performance,
his MOTN is the best I've heard from him. Pfisterer is alright. Lewis is a legendary Raoul.
The rest of the cast are great.

and a sound difference between Notes and Prima Donna, not that noticeable tho
Also, there's a skip in the beginning of "Il Muto" during the Confidante's recitative
"They say that this youth has set my lady's heart aflame . . ." to "His lordship sure would die of shock"
McGillin's Phantom still sounds fantastic

The entire ensemble give great performances. I really like McKerracher's emotional performance,

Amazing quality. Mauer delivers a heartbreaking performance,
his interpretation was truly touching. Also Southard is a great Christine,
first time I've heard her, have heard Gleason as the Phantom, but prefer him
in Raouls role, There's a funny flub during Hannibal rehearsal, Madame Giry says
Christine Daae where are you instead of Concentrate, girl and you can almost
see Meg hesitating before saying her next line. A 2-second skip in Masquerade.
Includes after-show orchestra pieces ...great performance by all

their chemistry is truly remarkable. Gary was truly on fire tonight, although he cracks his last note in MOTN,
his Reprise is truly heartbreaking. Beth's Wishing brings the house down.
Gleason was perhaps the only person not at their best tonight, he just sounds bored. Smith,

Rebecca Judd (u/s), John Whitney, Kristi Patricia (u/s)1st gen (from DM). Recorded from the 5th
or 6th row back, stage left. Complete show from pre-show announcements to right before curtain calls
at the end. Great quality, far and away the best Phantom audio I've ever heard - you can hear everything -
the elephant being rolled across the stage during Hannibal, paper rustling in Notes, every breath Beth takes
in Think of Me and Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again, Beth's gasp when Meg touches her shoulder
during Angel of Music, Meg's "rehearsals, always rehearsals," the ballet rats chattering during Magical Lasso,
Gary's little "oh!" gasp at the end when he realizes that Beth has returned (to give back the ring), and the
sheet being pulled away from the throne at the end just to name a few. Two small flubs - the gun doesn't
fire during Seal My Fate (it makes a little popping sound you can hear on the recording) so John makes a
quick save by telling the marksman he should have fired; also, John forgot his "but why" when Madame Giry
was explaining about the punjab lasso. The cast was incredible that night. One of the last audios of David Cryer

No pauses between tracks. Great quality except a bit too much bass and very slight

but there's something about him that just doesn't sit right with me at times. Melissa has a wonderful
clear voice - she sounds so childlike and innocent - although she's lacking some power in the scenes
that require it (most obvious Notes II when she's standing up to Carlotta). Brian is a decent Raoul,

Recorded from front mezz, third row far left. Relatively rare audio of
Romick as Phantom. The bass was cranked up ridiculously loud
in the theater;
they must have had like 7 mics on the bass drum or
SOMETHING,
because the bass was almost distorted-sounding even in real
life, and so
it definitely distorted on the audio. But you really only
get the excessive bass in the
overture and the persistent beat of the
rhythm in Masquerade
(and maybe a slight bit in some of the title song);
the rest of the audio is excellent quality.

Probably the best quality recording of Sterling. Beautifully clear vocals,
no distortion on high notes. Very light skipping during loud bits of MOTN, only
noticeable on headphones. This was recorded very close to the percussion section of the orchestra pit.
You can hear instruments you normally don't: the xylophone and maracas during
Why Have you for example. And for a rather mediocre Raoul, Sterling makes one
freaking amazing Phantom, definitely in my top five. The entire trio in this audio
has incredible chemistry, and the Final Trio is performed better here than in any other audio.
Lake is one of the better Raouls, without that overexaggerated vibrato I usually associate with that role.

Extremely emotional performances from Tewksbury and Southard.
Tewks just keeps getting better and better with each performance.
Some unfortunate clicks and hisses due to being recorded on an MP3 recorder.
Still, a great performance with a phenomenal Final Lair by Tewksbury.

Phantom of the Opera - Toronto Cast, 1991 or 1992 (Labeled March 17, 1991)
Colm Wilkinson, Rebecca Caine
Not fully sure if it's Caine or not as Christine, another trader has informed
me she has the exact same audio with Teresa DeZarn labeled as Christine, and a
date almost a year later, so I figured I'd warn any traders ahead of time.
Still, for the age, very good sound. I've finally ripped it and made track cuts.
Someone near the taper talked at some very inopportune moments though,
very annoying. Wilkinson isn't my favorite Phantom, I prefer him as Valjean,
but he's not TOO bad here. Christine (which ever she is) isn't too bad, but not
too impressive either.
*My notes*
"I've listened to this and compared it to the other audio
I have of Colm, and I'm positive it's not Rebecca"and have listed Teresa DeZarn
I have also edited out a lot of the talking and I must say once again that
Colm has really surprised me, for someone that didn't like him, he had me
crying in the Final Lair scene, and also frightened the hell out of me when
he yelled at Christine !!

Phantom of the Opera - Toronto - 29th February 1992
Colm Wilkinson, Rebecca Caine and Byron Neese
Well, I never thought I'd say it, but this recording is amazing. Act I is slightly
better quality than Act II, which is a bit soft until the rehearsal when the sound kicks in clear
again with some tape hiss, which I've managed to take some of it out...
I just can't get over how good Colm is - I've never been able to understand why people
like him so much, but I'm starting to understand! must have been
another of his Rare nights :)

Phantom of the Opera - London, 1987
Dave Willets, Jan Hartley-Morris (alt), Michael Ball
SOUNDBOARD. Very clear audio for its age, bass heaviness when it gets loud.
One of only two recording with Ball as Raoul that I've seen.
I have now fixed the base as best I could, and it sounds much better
and I have to say Dave Willets has shot right up the top of my list of favourite
phantoms, when I was listening to the Final Lair Scene, he was just so moving
it was like the being there, I actually had tears running down my cheeks !!!

The part of Christine was spelt as "Kristin" for the first workshop.
It was later changed when the script was revised for the second act workshop
and the West End opening.
The lyrics are pre-Charles Hart
This is one act long and it is before the show was completed and brought to London.
No three second pauses between tracks. Audible hiss and wavering throughout,
some of the words are nearly impossible to understand.
Some skips in the prologue and Notes I. It's quite a change from the show we know now
- the lyrics and scenes are almost completely different, it's really like listening to another show.
Buquet's characters is much more developed (and younger). Colm's enunciation drives me half crazy.
Sarah's lovely but this audio doesn't do her justice - the constant wavering makes her
voice sound very warped. As for Clive...well, I'm glad Steve Barton
is on the original cast recording instead.
