Here you will making the rings that
make up the middle of the CD. You will again be using gradients,
selections and lowering the opacity, to make the CD look plastic. Here
are the gradients used. |

Click on the Large Middle Ring layer to
make it the current layer in use. (ctrl + click) the Large Middle Ring layer in the layers palette to load it's selection. Make a new layer (shift + ctrl + N) Name it Large Middle Ring Gradient move this newly made layer below the large middle ring layer With the angle gradient (G) Make a new gradient or download this one. gray (175,175,175 Hex. #AFAFAF) location 0 white (255,255,255 Hex. #FFFFFF) location 20 gray (175,175,175 Hex. #AFAFAF) location 40 white (255,255,255 Hex. #FFFFFF) location 60 gray (175,175,175 Hex. #AFAFAF) location 80 white (255,255,255 Hex. #FFFFFF) location 100 Where the color stops are Located: 100% opacity located at 0 0% opacity located at 20 100% opacity located at 40 0% opacity located at 60 100% opacity located at 80 0% opacity located at 100 Drag from the middle to the left end of the selection. Set the opacity for this layer to 50% Deselect (ctrl + D) |
Click on
the Middle Ring layer to make it the current layer in use. Lower its Opacity to 20% Make a new layer (shift + ctrl + N) Name the layer Small Gradient Ring. (ctrl + click) on the Small Ring layer to load it's selection and expand the selection by 1(selections/modify/expand) With the angle gradient, Set to silver again Drag from the middle to the right end of the selection Deselect (ctrl + D) Again (ctrl + click) on the Small Ring layer to load it's selection, press the backspace key or the delete key to clear the selection Deselect (ctrl + D) Set the opacity of the Small Gradient Ring layer to 75% The original Small Ring layer can be deleted as it was only used to make selections. |
