Ebola Virus

The Ebola Hemorrhagic Fever could be one of the Twentieth Century's scariest killers. It was first recognized in Africa but the actual origin of the virus is unknown. Although there have been numerous outbreaks (in areas such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Sudan, the Ivory Coast, Uganda, and the Republic of the Congo), very little is known about this virus. What is known, however, is the brutality with which it attacks it's victims. The symptoms can appear anywhere from 2 to 21 days after exposure. Symptoms include fever, headache, joint and muscle aches, sore throat, weakness, diarrhea, vomiting, and stomach pain. A rash, red eyes, hiccups and internal and external bleeding is also possible. It is not yet known why some people recover from Ebola while others do not. Currently there is no treatment of vaccine available.
