Transmission of the Ebola Virus

The virus is primarily transmitted through bodily fluids, such as blood and saliva. Healthcare workers and other persons who have cared for people sick with Ebola are usually exposed to these fluids and therefore run the risk of contracted the virus if proper protection has not been taken. As well, in developing countries it is common for hypodermic needles to be shared, increasing the chances of exposure.
