The gazebo captures the natural elements
in the site, namely unobstructed wind, panoramic harbour view and green
vegetation. It also symbolises freedom and calmness
with its interior and exterior, as people relax there.
|
The roof is
a tensile structure supported by two piles going down into the rock. It
provides sun and light-shower shelter to hikers. The platforms
link the gazebo to the footpath and its surroundings. In the upper
platform, tired hikers can take a rest on the circular roundabout seating
and turn themselves around. Low wooden fences surrounding
it prevent people from falling down the slope underneath accidentally.
Vegetation on metal grids of the upper floor grows downwards, which move
in the direction of breeze and evoke visual amusement in the lower platform.
A staircase leads the people down to the lower
platform where a different point of view can be attained.

The colour of the tensile structure is pale milky white to catch the attention of hikers around and at the same time, make them feel calm and comfortable. It resembles the shape of the two wings of a bird, while that of the platforms resembles the shadow of the bird. The surface of most parts of the gazebo is smooth, giving people a sense of continuity and peace. This connects miraculously with the theme of the gazebo ?Taking Off, let your mind goes wherever it wants to. |
