BE LIKE THE BEREANS

Here is a conversation that took place between Char and a Christian. Although the Christian has the name of Jesus, they did not realize that Jesus can speak. The Father wants this to change. He wants those of us who know Him, to tell those who do not, that He talks and that there is no reason that He would not talk TO THEM. This is the gospel: that Jesus was crucified for us, and then by His body the curtain was rent in two, that separated us from the presence of the Father. Now, that the curtain is rent, and as the Scriptures state, we can enter into the throne room of God. And when we are there, we shall discover, that He speaks.

CHRISTIAN: Matthew 10:16 states, "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves." It also says in Acts 17: 10-12, "And the brethern immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." If you will notice, we are to be on guard against "wolves" and false doctrines. The epitome of wisdom of serpents and innocence of doves is outlined by the Bereans. They were told things, yet they search the scriptures to verify what they were told is indeed true.

CHAR: We are to be wise ourselves. They did search the Scriptures to see whether what was written is true. They wanted to know if it was true because they wanted to believe it if it was true. Good, then to be noble like them, and according to their example, you should be searching your Scriptures to see if what we are saying is true, and when you see that it is (God does indeed speak, that is plain all through the Scriptures) then you should be receiving with joy all that is being said by us in Jesus' name. This means that all the readers of our writings should be going to Jesus with joy asking Him to speak to them, saying this is true, according to the Scriptures, therefore, we rejoice and want to hear your voice for ourselves. The Bereans are a perfect example from Scripture and I am glad that you brought them up.

CHRISTIAN: When someone tells me of a "conversation" that they have had with the Almighty, if I don't write them off as a kook, I will compare what they say with Scripture and if it gives, then hallelujah, if is does not give, they are false, and I don't give them the time of day.

CHAR: Well, by "hallelujah," which means, "Praise God" (and that would certainly be receiving with joy) do you mean that you rejoice and then you seek the Father as to what He wants you to do about what is being said? He has promised us that those who come to Him expecting to hear His voice, will hear Him speak to them. This is why He told us to say that He speaks today, because He wants to speak to those who love Him but don't know that He still speaks to men. They are afraid that they will be deceived, but your example of the Bereans is a good one. Let those who are afraid search out their Bible, and they will see that God does speak. Then they should come to Him.
