I saw a powerful waterfall. There was a tremendous amount of water pouring down quite a long height and at the bottom it churned the water up, and it all frothed white and then flowed off into a river.
     Then I saw, incredibly, a whole bunch of small wooden boats, all with white sails moving against the force of the current in the river and towards the waterfall. Quite a few of them were red. Others were white. When they got underneath where the water was falling, they were destroyed by the force of the water and evidently sunk out of sight.
     Then I saw coming from behind the falling water where the small boats had sunk, a big aircraft carrier emerging, this time going in the direction of the current flow. Then a battleship appeared, then a destroyer. Many of them. And they all went with the flow of the current and headed toward the open sea.
     When they were on the sea, they deployed and began heading in all different directions. And on the horizons, you could see big black war clouds gathering. The ships continued to head towards the war clouds. Then airplanes were launched and then missiles and the big guns roared as they lobbed their shells of destruction.
     The war clouds began to recede backward. And began to thin out.
     Then I saw a beautiful sunset, with the sun very low in the sky, spreading its rays upon a beautiful tropical island and now peaceful waters. And the warships were anchored and bobbing up and down slightly with the lapping waves.
     The sun disappeared and immediately a big, bright silver moon began to rise in the sky. As it did I saw the island and the still peaceful water, but the warships had gone. In their place were the little wooden boats again, all with white sails.
     As I watched I could hear singing, and the smell of food and the sound of many voices, like a big party was going on.
     As I continued to watch, the sea disappeared and all I could see were people. They were singing, and eating and communing one with another. It was a very happy and festive time.
Interpretation
     The first thing I saw was the waterfall. This, I believe, represents a new outpouring of the Spirit of God with great power. Then I saw the boats. Their wooden structure speaks of humanity, their sails speak of going with the wind of the Holy Spirit, the white sails and white boats indicate purity. The red boats symbolize the blood (life) of Jesus and our forgiveness.
     (Ten days after receiving this vision and writing this, God again showed this same waterfall to me. This time, He zoomed in on the sailboats in order to show me that some in the boats going against the current were not only letting their sails go with the wind of the Holy Spirit, but they were also paddling with wooden oars. This would speak of their human efforts to attain to their goal. At the same time, some boats going with the current in the opposite direction were also being paddled with wooden oars. As boats going in opposite directions passed each other, the people would look at the other boat and wonder out loud, “Don't they know they are going in the wrong direction?” This indicates that each person going in a specific direction has strong convictions about the direction they are headed towards. This will probably result in even stronger polarization of “pro” and “con” convictions.)
     Just as the salmon, who live in salt water (contaminated spiritual environment), swim upstream against the current, in order to find fresh water (pure uncontaminated spiritual environment) to spawn, so the Holy Spirit will direct us against the flow of the existing river of God, which is now polluted with fleshly activities and demonic doctrines because of the length of its run, both geographically (world-wide) and time-wise (several centuries). These fleshly activities and demonic doctrines have subsided since the first great outpouring, but run rampant with each new outpouring and then gradually subside. But the few that have survived are now firmly entrenched as human tradition and/or aberrant doctrine. New pure, spiritual life must be birthed in the fresh, pure and uncontaminated water.
     The Holy Spirit will take us from the salt water to the fresh water. There these frail, human vessels will be destroyed and resurface in this fresh water (from the falling water). This I believe indicates crucifixion of the flesh, and a new baptism, resurfacing as ships, or weapons, of war. This indicates a new baptism of power by the Holy Spirit, for those who are pure, an equipping for spiritual warfare against the enemy.
     No longer equipped with sails, so that the wind of the Spirit could direct them to fresh waters, they were now going in the flow of the newly released purity and power of the Spirit. They were headed towards the open sea (salt water), which represents people, and contaminated spiritual environments.
     The first ship was an aircraft carrier, and the first weapons launched were fighter planes and then missiles. This is saints and ministries engaged in warfare in heavenly places, which is intercession in the form of prayer and praise. The battleship is none less than God Himself, leading His people following upon the intercessory praise. The destroyer represents His heavenly hosts.
     The war clouds represent the efforts of the enemy. They were defeated and began to recede and thin out.
     The sunset, with the sun very low in the sky and the moon immediately rising, indicates the end of the last days. The tropical island, peaceful waters and anchored warships, symbolize a relaxed style of living, and a supernatural calm after a fierce battle in the heavenlies, reflected on the earth.
     The rising of the bright silver moon, whose rays bathed the scene, indicates a new spiritual atmosphere of purity for mankind. The warships gone from the scene indicates a time of peace, and the little wooden boats with white sails indicates we have laid down our weapons of war.
     With the singing, the food and party scenario we see a new unity among these people. The disappearance of the sea (contaminated spiritual environment) indicates the new earth and a continuing time of Godly fellowship among the people.
     (The end of the last days and the peace symbolized here, with the disappearance of the sea, could represent the millennium).
Application
     Prepare yourself for a powerful new outpouring of God's Holy Spirit.
     Spiritually, we are to continue with prayer and seeking the mind and purpose of God. We must allow the Holy Spirit to chart our course. We must make ourselves worthy of this experience by holy and pure living.
     This is the time for walking by faith. This is extremely important. Even if we might think that we are going counter to the old flow of God in the natural, we must let the Holy Spirit take us to His new place of power.
     This is decision time: will we follow the crowd or will we follow the cloud?
     It's important that when we arrive at the place of destruction, that we mortify our flesh and let the Holy Spirit rebaptize us in preparation for spiritual warfare.
     Without this new baptism of power, our fleshly nature will not die and we will not be used by God in this new assault on the enemy.
     Praying and praising intercessory saints and ministries are to prepare the way for God Himself to lead His heavenly hosts into a winning victory against the enemy. I gather from this that God is saying that the battle is not ours, but His. However, it will take heartfelt prayer and praise from pure and holy vessels to help bring this about.
     The end result of this will be to eventually usher in a new era as the curtain falls on human history in time as we know it. Then we will dwell in purity and peace in perpetual fellowship with God and each other.

     NOTE: In asking God for a word for 1998, one evening, He immediately said “God's open floodgate in '98” and I saw a floodgate. The floodgate began to open up, from the bottom, and then the sides began to open, like a pair of swinging doors opening outwards. He then showed me a map of North America. I saw, somewhere around the Vancouver area, the flow spill over into somewhere around the Washington and Oregon areas, and begin to move diagonally in a southeasterly direction. Later, when I looked at a map of North America, I saw that the diagonal move went from the northwest area around Washington and Oregon, and cut across somewhere around Kansas City, St. Louis and continued on to an area somewhere around North Carolina, South Carolina or Georgia.
     The week after that I received literature in which a minister spoke of an “open floodgate in '98.” I have since seen other such statements on the Internet. I have also since read prophecies indicating a new outpouring of God's Spirit in Canada spilling over into the United States.
     The opening up of the floodgate from the bottom first indicates to me that it will start with great force and power. It then appears to follow a “prophetic trail” so to speak across the United States through Kansas City and St. Louis and then to somewhere between North Carolina and Georgia. That it will spread from there is certain, however, I did not see it. I also believe that there will be more than just what I saw. I believe the Spirit was “accenting” the prophetic aspect of this great new outpouring.
     Even more than that, I believe that the purpose of this is to “destroy” the false prophetic by a cleansing and purging so that the true prophets of God will then communicate God's purposes for such a time as this.
     The salmon analogy is interesting, because salmon come from the North Atlantic Sea, which certainly indicates the Pacific Northwest area.
     The fact that this outpouring starting in eastern Canada, and from what I have seen and read what others say about it, appears now to be slated for an even greater outpouring in the western part of Canada is significant. The east (rising of the sun) signifies the beginning, while the west (setting of the sun) signifies the end.
