The Ring

Once by the door he pauses to stand,
As he takes his class ring off of her hand.
All who were watching didn't dare speak
As silent tears rolled down his cheek.

All through his mind the memories ran,
Of moments they talked and walked in the sand.
But now her eyes were so terribly cold;
Never again would he have her to hold.

All were silent as he bent down near,
To whisper, "I love you" in her ear.
He touched her face and started to cry;
He put on his ring and wanted to die.

Just as the wind started to blow,
They lowered her casket into the snow.
This is what happens to many alive,
When friends let friends drink and drive.
