2001 Parker City Street Fair

Fireworks were on Wednesday at dusk immediately after a wedding held in the park. The fireworks were to begin at the moment of the bride-groom kiss but the little league ballgame just finishing up needed time for 2 more outs to complete the game. They prevailed. The bride-groom kiss lasted for what seemed like 2 or 3 minutes then was broken up by the guests. Then the fireworks began as the field lights could be turned off.

Saturday's Parade Grand Marshal

The parade Grand Marshal for 2001 was Monte Jeffery and he was introduced this way.
"The Grand Marshal of the Parker Parade is the son of Jobe and Deloris Jeffery. He has lived over-seas for eight years and has lived in California, Texas, Alabama, Virginia Beach and Washington D.C. and yet has always maintained his residency in Parker City. He grew up on South Franklin St. He played on the 1958-1959 Parker Panthers county and sectional winning basketball team. He spent 23 years in the U.S. Air Force serving 2 terms in Vietnam flying an F-4 Phantom Jet. On December 28, 1972, he holds the honor of being the last U.S. pilot to fly a mission over North Vietnam. Since retiring from the Air Force he now has his own consulting firm which is based in Washington D.C. He always returns to Parker for the fair and to visit with old friends. Driving the car is long time friend Jerry Morgan. Also riding in the car is Monte's grandson Jonas Wood."
Jerry, Monte and Jonas brought the flag to the stage where the National Anthem was sung by all.

Nearly Everyone Spent Time in the Police Lock-Up.

After being released Fred looked like he was ready to fire the entire department.

Thursday was Senior Citizen Night at the Slide.

Everyone loves a slide .. even in their 70s and 80s.
Ed and Charlie sacking up and Ed and Charlie skidding to a stop.

Gerald took a turn and walked away from it...thank goodness. Roberta and Shirley then took a turn.

Terry flew out of his hat on the last hump.

There were many ways to become dizzy.
