The History of Racecar

Ok, its a long story, and I have only about half of it. Here goes, Racecar started early last year (1996) as a three piece band that played poppy punk music with a little bit of ska overtone. In the summer of 96', they met Fuzz Factor (link below), who caught them at a show at the Crown Point American Legion along with the bands, Hollowpoint and The Valposers. In Sam Barnett's words (fuzzfac@thor.pla-net.net), "This was the beginning of a dastardly friendship with its sights set on taking over the world together..." Over the next few months, Racecar started adding horn players to their three-pieced band. First was Kara (sax). Next admitted were her two friends and school "band-mates" Paul (trumpet) and Bill (sax). The newest member of the band, Derek (trombone) joined last summer. The dimension of the band changed when Megan Smith (vocals) joined the band and put a new kind of kick in the music. Racecar started out playing the classics like "Classified Ads," "Everyday is Wednesday," and "Brother is a Punk." Racecar also plays some Screaching Weasel covers like "Veronica Hates Me" and "Hey Suburbia." Some of the band members' e-mail adresses are listed below.
