Year of the Ram
Feb 1st, 2003 to Jan 21st, 2004

(Black Water Ram, Gui Wei, Chinese Year 4700)

The Ram Year brings peace to frazzled hearts and comfort to weary minds and bodies. We have come through a time of adventure and certain chaos to the oasis beside a gentle stream. This is the Year to really savor your home, your hearth, your personal vista - to make it truly, your very own castle. Humble or grand, home is where the Ram's heart lies. A wonderful year to express yourself through the culinary arts, handiwork and homey creations, your garden and your own inner world as well. The Ram or Goat also brings a wonderful restful sense of peace and harmony - a balm for the bruises and bumps accumulated last year, the Year of the Horse.

This is a year to rekindle or develop warm supportive relationships with like-minded people, our families and other loved ones. This is not a time to force things, but instead, to go with the flow of the gentle Ram. This is also a time to get in touch with the real You, through contemplation, meditation, nature walks and other quiet self-development activities. An excellent activity to indulge in is art of any kind - bursts of creativity and imagination are common in this Year of the Goat. The Ram is not known for her discipline or orderliness - if you feel disoriented and lazy, grab a paint brush or sculpture tools and allow your genius to flow through by creating your own personal masterpiece. This is a time to allow the Muse to alight and inspire You whether through visual art, music, poetry, dance, or sheer appreciation of nature's beauty.

This is also a time when prevention of war and conflict is possible if people can just tune into the strong current of tolerance and the need for peace brought by the nimble Goat. If all the billions of dollars spent on war, military training, and espionage were instead funneled into comfort for all, creative activities and cleaning up the planet, the Goat would jump for joy! For that is her mission - to bring tranquility, rest and relaxation where there is turmoil, strife and restlessness. There is a tendency to overspend in the Year of the Ram, so do keep control of your pocketbook and bank statements. Get lots of rest, and take time to reflect and recoup to avoid irritation and petty discontent. Make new friends, share your soul, and expect wonderful things to come your way. Nurture yourself and those you love, let your kindness and altruism shine through to touch all around You.
