You know letter writing ain't never been easy for me. I told you a hundred times that I can't write love letters any better than Jimmy can cook. But this is something that has to be said, cuz I know you're going to be madder than hell when you find this.
Amanda got kidnapped, so we've all gone off to rescue her. We didn't have time to wait for you, so that's one reason why we left before you got back from your run. If we would've waited any longer... I know that if it had been you, I would've rushed out as soon as I heard.
I didn't want you to come with us this time though, because I don't want to lose you. I've already lost enough, with Ma and Jed. You're all I have left and I don't want to lose you too.
Even though we're not together anymore, I still care about you. I still love you. Which is why you have to stay home. If anything happened to you, I don't know what I would do. Or what the other riders would do either, cuz you mean a lot. To all of us. So please don't be too angry when I ask you to stay behind this time. It was the only choice I had. I want to be able to come home to you, not have the chance of losing you again.
I hope you understand all this, Lou. And that you won't hit me too hard when you see me again.
