National Seminar on Testing

National Seminar of Flight Testing

This seminar is being organised by the Aircraft and Systems Testing Establishment, Air Force in association with the AESI. This event will be conducted during the 4 and 5 December 1997.

Introduction

Flight testing is an important and crucial phase in any development programmme of aircraft and associated systems. Our indigenous efforts in these areas have gained considerable momentum in the last few years because of sustained efforts by DRDO, HAL and other agencies. Consequently, at this juncture, there is an urgent need to update out flight test methodologies to meet the flight test requirement of new technologies being integrated in our development programmes. A National Seminar on Flight Testing will provide the required platform for all professionals engaged in the design, development, aero-engines, avionics systems and associated equipment to interact with each other, share their experience and chart the course for the future. ASTE has therefore taken the lead to organise such a seminar in association with the Aeronautical Society of India, Bangalore Branch.

Scope

1. To discuss issues involved in flight testing with a view to optimise the time and costs involved in flight testing.
2. To review the changes in the philosophy and methodologies of flight testing required for the evaluation of new technologies in the design and development of systems with particular emphasis on the experience of similar development programmes in other countries.
3. To discuss experience gained and lessons learnt in flight testing during our indigenous programmes for the development and integration of aircraft technologies
