~ An Exploration of What We Do ~

Above all, the human species is a creature of habit. We spend almost all of our time in the pursuit of habitual behaviour. Unlike most other creatures, we adapt even our instinctive needs, such as eating, drinking and sex to complex timetables.
hab-it (hàb-ît) noun
- a) A recurrent, often unconscious pattern of behaviour that is acquired through frequent repetition. b) An established disposition of the mind or character.
- Customary manner or practice: a person of ascetic habits.
- An addiction, especially to a narcotic drug.
- Physical constitution.
- A distinctive dress or costume, especially of a religious order.
This small site is dedicated to the study of our habits. Why do we work this way? Is there a difference between habit and addiction? Is a habit necessarily a good thing, or a bad thing? Can we control these habits, and if so, how?
