Mail of the week - 14

Quote of the week:
------------------

    Arpa manamae!  agilavaazhvu athhanaiyum
    sorpanam kandaai;unmai sonnaennaan - karpanaionru
    illadha idathhae, enaisumma vaithirukka
    kallainee thaanoru kavi.
 					-  Thayumanavar

    [Arpa - silly; manam - mind; agila - worldly; vaazhvu - life;
athhanaiyum - everything; sorpanam - dream; kandaai - saw; sonnaen -
told; naan - i; karpanai - imagination; onru -
one;illadha - without; idhathae - place; enai - myself; summa - nothing;
vaithirukka - to keep; kal(vi) - learn; nee - you; oru - one; kavi -
poem]

    {O! Poor mind! You dreamt all about the worldly life. I told you
the truth. Why don't you learn a poem (a way or a method) to keep me in
a state of Nothingness?? }

Kural of the week:
------------------

    Uruvukandu ellamai vaendum urulperunthaerkku
    acchaani annaar udaithhu.

    [Uruvu - physical appearance; kandu - on seeing; ellamai - laugh
at; urul - moving; perum - big; thaer - cart; acchaani - nail used to
hold a cart's wheel; annar - world]

    {Never laugh at one's physical appearance in the world. Wheel of a
big cart relies on its small nail (which prevents the wheels from coming
out of their axle).}

    [I donot know the right word for acchaani. Hope you understood. ]

Do you know ?
-------------

    Women in India wear 'pottu' or 'bindi' or 'thilakam' on their
foreheads. But why ? It is to prevent the hypnotic(!) forces entering
their mind, thereby preventing them from the outside evil(!) forces.

    {Read somewhere. Not my own interpretation. - Anbu}

    [Most of the customs have a reason behind them. Try to find it. If
it is right, accept it. ]

Site of the week:
