    f.a.q.

What's printed on my mouse pad: An orange tabby cat's face. (The frog wearing a wizard's hat has moved to the office. He's now trying to help me keep a grip on my sanity when I'm there.)

Name as it appears on birth certificate: Patricia Jean. (Like the Patricia, hate the Jean. I hereby disown that part of my name.)

Parents' names: Bryan and Mildred. (The more interesting name is the name of the town in which Daddy was born: Cotton Plant.)

Number of candles on last birthday cake: None. (City fire ordinances are a concern; 57 candles would've been pushing it.)

Perfect age: Don't think there is one. (More to do with what you make of the age you are.)

Am I married: Nope. (Listening to friends, I suspect pets are less trouble.)

Pets: Felines Tucker and Henry. Tuck thinks he's my familiar; Henry thinks I'm his mommy. (After several years, I still mourn the loss of my incredibly handsome 11-year-old airedale Riley.)

What do I look like: Do you remember what Barbara Bach looked like as a Bond girl? I don't look like that.

Height: 5'5". (Good thing weight isn't the next question!)

Hair color: Reddish-brown. (Bless you, Lisa.)

Eye color: Greenish-grey. (::batting eyelashes:: Aren't they pretty?)

Right-handed, left-handed, or ambidextrous: Right-handed. (Or...is there a word for all thumbs? Oh. Yeah. That would be "clumsy".)

Can I touch my nose with my tongue: Why on earth would I want to?

Piercings: Yep. One in each ear.

Tattoos: I'll treat myself to one as a reward if I ever reach a certain personal goal. (Chances: slim to none. But I think it could be fun.)

If I was a crayon what color would I be: Cobalt blue. (Strange; I seem very certain of that.)

What's my first thought when I wake in the mornings: Nooooooooooo. Not yet!

How many times did I fail my driver's license test: None. (Fortunately they didn't make me parallel park or I'd still be taking the test.)

First car: 1966 Mustang. (Wow, what $500 could buy.)

Been in a car wreck: Yes. (No horrible ones, but I used my lifetime share of accidents fairly early on.)

2 doors or 4 doors: Five. (Currently a 2006 VW Golf.)

Been to Africa: No. (It's pretty low on my list of places I'd like to visit. I like my creature comforts too well.)

Favorite alcoholic drink: None. (Never understood exactly why it is I'm supposed to acquire a taste for something that doesn't taste good.)

Been drunk: Nope. (Don't like being any more out of control than the state created by my natural chemistry.)

Had the drink Calypso Breeze: No. (Does it come with a little umbrella in it?)

Sprite or 7-up: Neither. (Reminds me of Alka-Seltzer.)

Favorite nonalcoholic drink: Sweet tea. (Sunkist Orange Soda is an addiction I try to stay away from with varying degrees of success. Pepsi and A&W root beer are runners-up.)

Favorite restaurant: The Vine. Or Heinnies. Or Lakeshore. Or...

Favorite fast food restaurant: Jimmy John's. (Hate their freaky ads; love their #4's.)

Croutons or bacon bits: That would imply I eat green things. ::shudder::

Favorite salad dressing: No, no. Not again with the green things!

Favorite foods: Chocolate; spaghetti; mashed potatoes; chicken and noodles... (Do you sense a starch common denominator?)

Coffee or coffee ice cream: Don't like the taste of coffee, period. (Love the aroma though.)

Favorite ice cream: Not really an ice cream person, but if I indulge, Ben & Jerry's Chunky Monkey. (It doesn't come close to vague childhood memories of homemade banana ice cream though.)

Favorite toothpaste: Colgate Total. (Although I don't know that I'd classify this as a "favorite" type thing.)

Favorite holiday: Thanksgiving. (Actually any multiple-day holiday could win my vote.)

Favorite flower: Peonies. (The quintessential flower!)

Favorite color: An impossible question. I love color. (But if questioned at gunpoint, I'd probably pick a shade of green or blue.)

Favorite color socks: Don't wear 'em. (When finally unpacking the penultimate boxes from my move of four years ago I discovered my socks.)

Bedroom carpet color: Blue-green. (Tell me why cats do their best to barf in the one carpeted room of the house.)

    Favorite word or phrase: Mercy!

What words or phrases do I overuse: Don't know. (I'm sure someone would be more than happy to tell me -- and urge me to quit.)

Favorite season: Everything except spring. Spring is cold, damp, and nasty.

Favorite number: 13. (Tempting fate you suppose?)

How come: Already answered. (One-word responses are so difficult for me.)

In which store would I choose to max my credit card: JJill, Sundance, Crate and Barrel. (Assuming it isn't already maxed.)

Best thing: A perfect day; mid-70's, low humidity, breezy, and lots of sunlight. (A day like that makes other good things even better, and bad things a little more bearable.)

What do I do most often when bored: Contemplate my navel.

Most annoying thing: I have to narrow it down to one thing? Puhleeze.

How many rings before I answer the phone: No idea. I have a bluesy ringtone.

Name of childhood blanket/stuffed animal: Didn't have one that I recall. (Does this mean I was deprived? Should I be in therapy?)

The first thing I notice about a person: Eyes. (After that I might be shallow and notice arms. And cross my fingers that mine aren't noticed in return.)

Favorite place to be kissed: Now there's a need-to-know basis question.

Least favorite subject: Math. (Definitely. Really definitely.)

Favorite board game: Scrabble. (Games involving anything besides words are either boring or too much like work.)

Rollercoasters--scary or exciting: Exciting? People ride those for FUN? They aren't torture devices?

Favorite zoo exhibit: Cats. Wait, camels. No, bears. (Would you stop asking these hard ones?)

Favorite movie: Not much of a movie person. Maybe "Ghost". (Whoopi is hilarious. And that clay scene. Mercy!)

Favorite quote from a movie: "Ditto." (That's the only quote I can actually remember.)

Favorite tv shows: So You Think You Can Dance and As Time Goes By. (I seesaw between no tv viewing at all to watching even QVC.)

Favorite Sesame Street character: May I pick a Muppet instead? I love Beaker. (Have you ever seen the episode where he gets photocopied?)

Favorite Disney character: The hippos in Fantasia. (I like whimsy, and it doesn't get much more whimsical than a tutu on a hippo.)

Favorite song: How can I pick just one? For driving fast with the radio blasting and the wind whipping, Mustang Sally. For slow stripping, Give Me One Reason -- it was a rather dangerous moment when I heard that playing in the grocery store one night. To blend with breathing, pretty nearly anything by Sade. (The radio in my car is set at country stations and oldies stations.)

What do I think of Ouija boards: Creepy. (I think there are more powers in the world than can be seen. Blindly arousing those whose origin and/or strength we are uncertain of strikes me as extremely stupid.)

Bedtime: I'm a night owl by nature, but I aim for between 9:30 and 10:00. (With my [lack of] self-discipline, it ends up anywhere from 6:00 pm - 3:00 am.)

What's under my bed: Dust bunnies. (Maneater-sized...who feed on cat toys.)

What inspires me: An open, brand-new box of crayons. Doesn't the sight make you believe anything created would be a thing of beauty?

Where do I see myself in ten years: Retired in financial comfort to a waterfront cottage. Hey, it's a fairly harmless fantasy.
