Step One: GM Step Two: Head Coach

2/4/99 By hiring Eric Tillman as their GM, the Argonauts completed the first of many steps needed to successfully navigate their way toward the 1999 season. The February 3 hiring of Eric Tillman was completed in such rapid fashion that he did not even have time to, in his mind, adequately dress for the news conference. Tillman indicated that among the next orders of operations is the acquisition of a new head coach, a process that he said was going to be done right, and to do so, proper time and consideration will have to go into assembling the list of candidates. Prior to the hiring of Tillman, team President Bob Nicholson was responsible for attempting to secure personnel for the head coaching position, in addition to signing Toronto's present free agents. Now having acquired a GM, Nicholson will no longer be concentrating his efforts on the coaching requirements, he will instead leave that role to Tillman.
