iconJOHN NEESE was a native of Tennessee and was born November 16, 1809. His parents were Lutherans of German extraction and were noted for their industry and frugality. Soon after he had attained his majority, he came to Monroe County, Indiana, and married Miss Susie Isenhour. The result of this union was nine children, for of which preceded him. He moved to Boone County in 1838, and has ever since been a well to do citizen. He died August 23, at age 83. Funeral services were conducted in the Luthern Church in Whitestown near where he lived and buried in the Luthern Cemetery 2 1/2 miles east of Whitestown.

iconSUSANNAH NEESE died at her home n Whitestown, Wednesday of senility. The deceased was born in Greene County, Tennessee and was aged 85 years, 7 months and 21 days. In 1835 she was married in Tennessee to John Neese. She leaves three daughters, Katherine Ottinger, Rosanna Laughner, Lavina Hauser and two sons, Samuel R. Neese and Riley W. Neese. She is also survived by 33 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. Mrs. Neese was a member of the Luthern Church at Whitestown. Burial at the Luthern Cemetery.

iconJOHN H. NEESE,67, Whitestown, a retired Pitman-Moore Co. employee, died at 4:00 p.m. yesterday at his home. He had been in ill health for the past 30 years. He worked for Bauerstienkamp Greenhouse for 19 years in Indianapolis and then was employed at Pitman-Moore Co. for 18 years before retiring because of his health. A native of Boone County, he was born March 22, 1896, the son of Harvie E. and Lottie (Peters) Neese. On December 8, 1915, he was married to Blanche Pipes, who survives. Other survivors include six sons, Kenneth H. Neese of Zionsville, Chester O. and Dalton Gene of Lebanon, Charles L. of Columbia, South Carolina, John H. Jr. of R.R. Lebanon and Billy Lee Neese of Millidgeville; a daughter, Mary Maxwell of Lebanon, and a brother Ovid Neese of Crawfordsville, a sister is deceased while 23 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Baptist Church in Whitestown with the Rev. John McIntire assisted by Elder W.E. Essex officiating. Burial will be in the Mts. Run Cemetery. Friends may call at the Russell & Hitch Funeral Home in Lebanon after 7:00 p.m. today until 11:00 a.m. Saturday when the body will be taken to the church.
