PIPES

iconBenjamin F. Pipes-son of the late John B. and Delilah Hawkins Pipes of Polar, Elk Fork, died at his home in Canton, Ohio, 11 May 1927. He was born at Polar, Elk Fork Creek at the John B. Pipes homestead, 12 March 1870, and was married to Susan S. Snider.
To this union were born 3 children, a son who died a number of years ago of diptheria and 2 daughters, Allie and Evelyn who with their mother survive him. Also brothers William and Simeon of Indiana and sisters, Mrs. Belle Wright, Mrs. Janie Ferrell, Matilda Pipes and Mrs. Laura Camp.
He was a member of the M.E. Church and the Masonic Order at Hebron Lodge.
He served 3 years as county commissioner from Ellsworth District. He lived at Wich, Middlebourne and Sistersville. He and George F. Watson and later he and T.O. Johnson were engaged in contract work in Tyler County and built a number of bridges and culverts for the county.
The internment was in the Greenwood Cemetery, services by Sistersville Masonic Order.

SUMMITTVILLE - Samuel R. Pipes, 84, Summittville, died Sunday in the Wesleyan Nursing Home, Marion. He was the former owner of Pipes Welding Shop, Matthews. He was a World War I Navy veteran.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Blanche Neese, Whitestown; and two brothers, John W., Muncie and Cleveland Pipes, Summitville.
Friends may call at Ewing Funeral Home, Summitville, where services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Rev. Lloyd Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Eaton.

John W. Pipes, 93, formerly of 1421 W. Eighth St., died Friday night in Woodland Nursing Home after an extended illness. He was born in Zionsville, Indiana., and had lived in Muncie 62 years, coming here from New Castle.
Mr. Pipes retired in 1954 after several years employment with Warner Machine Co. He was a member of the Emmanual Church of the Nazarene.
He served in the Navy before World War I.
Surviving are two sons, a daughter and a sister, Blanche Neese, Lebanon, Indiana. Eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Parson Mortuary - Adams Chapel. Burial will be in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Calling will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m, Monday at the funeral home.
