On Saturday; May 30th, 1998; my Mom, Julie Gilleand with help from Linda Stoops, coreographed a very successful intimate Local John Denver Gathering!
The gathering was held from Noon til 6 p.m. and inside of a beautifully decorated community building. The walls were covered with pictures of John, the shelves contained JD Album Covers, JD music echoed through the room all day!
Events held at this gathering included a meal, a video montage presentation, me performing my song "The Water is Singing", and my friend Marcy joining me on "Sunshine on my Shoulders", much fellowship among friends only known through cyberspace, and of course a mini-concert by Brian Taylor.
Brian performed many of John's pieces that he never got the oppertunity to record. Many of which we had never heard including "Blue Water World" dedicated to the memory of Jacque Coustou. He also performed a few of his own songs including the famous "Eulogy" for John. He also performed John's last song "Yellowstone Coming Home". Some of the more known tumes Brian performed included: "Amazon", "Eagles and Horses", "I Want to Live", "Dreamland Express", "Higher Ground", and more.
The whole day was a great chance to get to meet some
of the people we've only known through the world
web.
Some traveled from Chicago, Lafeyette, Detroit, and
many other places.
It was a great time, and we hope to have another real soon!
