I walked along the beach, digging my toes into the sand, when suddenly Mr Torrie came down. "Hi!" he said. I vomited on him. "That's it!" he cried. "I'm filing a lawsuit on the grounds assault."
Elanor and I can laugh about it now, but we're still paying off the car!
He's tall, strong and sturdy, like a big tree except hunkier. And his wife... she didn't have to know! The information... don't you see?! The information didn't have to get to her!! Don't you understand?!" I was hysterical by this time. The Reverend Mother, however, remained sane.
"I know, my child. I know all of this. The Heavenly father told me so. But there is one choice you will have to make: The Father, and Eternal Life, or you can have Dale. Small compensation, is that boy," she said, "compared with a life in Heaven. Now, my daughter, do not come back to me until you have made up your mind."
I needed time to think. I left her worriedly and confronted Mark on what I should do.
"I love Dale, Mark, but can and should I give him up?"
"I can't make that decision," he said quietly, "but I can advise you." And he did. And good advice it was too. Mark, in fact, told me to get lost or he would bash my head in.
I stared at him. "Are you crazy?"
"Listen, girl. Did you hear me or not?"
"Ah, yeah. I was just going."
"Great," he said shortly.
"See ya."
"Ya. Ok."
I felt rather hurt that he hadn't asked me to the 'Endeavour Under The Sea' dance. I didn't want to seem too forward, but if he didn't ask me soon, I would have to ask me himself. I didn't feel like that, and so I hopped on my dad's Kawasaki and zoomed out to Mangawhai. I needed to be alone.
"Fine!" I said. "I've got the greatest lawyer - twice as good as any you could ever dig up, so go and buy two lunches - one for each face! You were supposed to be my teacher!"
