Flights of Fancy
Someone once told me that dreams are for the foolish and that accepting reality is strength so as not to delude oneself. But it seems to me that it is a balance of the two that forges our very being. It is when one relies totally on one or the other that perspective is lost. Without dreams there is no ambition....without ambition we are but destined to wander aimlessly through life.
Nothing is as real as a dream. The world can change around you, but your
dream will not. Responsibilities need not erase it. Duties need not obscure it.
Because the dream is within you, no one can take it away.
~ Tom Clancy ~
You are never given a dream without also being given the power to make it
true. You may have to work for it, however.
~ Richard Bach ~
I have heard it said that the first ingredient of success -- the earliest spark in
the dreaming youth -- is this; dream a great dream.
~ John A. Appleman ~
There couldn't be a society of people who didn't dream. They'd be dead in
two weeks.
~ William S. Burroughs ~
Don't be afraid of the space between your dreams and reality. If you can
dream it, you can make it so.
~ Belva Davis ~
To dream anything that you want to dream, that is the beauty of the human
mind. To do anything that you want to do, that is the strength of the human
will. To trust yourself, to test your limits, that is the courage to succeed.
~ Bernard Edmonds ~
I always have to dream up there against the stars. If I don't dream I will make
it, I won't even get close.
~ Henry J. Kaiser ~
There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why? I dream
of things that never were, and ask why not.
~ Robert F. Kennedy ~
If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where
they should be. Now put the foundations under them.
~ Henry David Thoreau ~
When you dream alone, with your eyes shut, asleep, that dream is an
illusion. But when we dream together, sharing the same dream, awake and
with our eyes wide open, then that dream becomes reality!
~ Source Unknown ~
Dreams come true; without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have
them.
~ John Updike ~
A dream is your creative vision for your life in the future. You must break out
of your current comfort zone and become comfortable with the unfamiliar and
the unknown.
~ Denis Waitley ~
How hard it is, sometimes, to trust the evidence of one's dreams! How
reluctantly the mind consents to reality.
~ Norman Douglas ~
Your dreams, minus your doubts, equal your reality.
~ Ralph Marston ~
Every child has great dream and ambitions. As he grows, he is bombarded
by negative suggestions -- you can't do this; you can't do that; be careful;
look for security, and so on. Year by year, he experiences the "realities" of
life, and his ambitions fade away. Figuratively speaking, most children die by
the time they reach their adulthood.
~ Shall Sinha ~
It's this last quote that frightens me so. The children are our future...but yet we alone can destroy that by continuing to mock and degrade youthful aspriations and forcing what is "acceptible" upon them. For if we lose faith in OUR dreams, how can we dare hope for them to have everything we did not? And it scares me, because I too have come so very close to that... losing faith in myself and what I hope to one day achive. All it takes is one leap of faith...but then again.... maybe, I think too much.....or dream too little........
