O Ddewi sanctaidd, gelwi'r gwlad yn gyson Ar hyd canrifoedd maith i'r dyddiau fydd, O oes i oes gwrandawn, er pob ymryson, Dy eiriau di: "Bydd lawen, cadw'r Fydd." Crist oedd dy graig a sail dy holl athrawiaeth, Ei gariad ef roes angerdd yn dy gri, Ei ras oedd rym a'i serch oedd wres dy bregeth, Ei lendid ef dywynnodd ynot ti. Yn blentyn bach, dewisaist Iesu'n unig, A'i ysgafn iau yn gu iti a gaed; O'i bledig ef 'roedd popeth iti'n golled Ond dwyn y groes a dilyn ôl ei draed. Moes di dy law i'n tywys a'n hachlesu, Rho dros ein hannwyl wlad dy gymorth di, Dwg ni at Dduw yn ufudd i gyffesu Iesu yn Ben a Brenin fyth i ni. - - - - - O Ddewi sanctaidd, gelwi'r gwlad yn gyson Ar hyd canrifoedd maith i'r dyddiau fydd, O oes i oes gwrandawn, er pob ymryson, Dy eiriau di: "Bydd lawen, cadw'r Fydd." Tôn [11.10.11.10.11.10.11.9]: St David |
O sacred David, thou didst call the land constantly Along vast centuries to the days that shall be, From age to age we listen, despite all strife, To thy words: "Be joyful, keep the faith." Christ was thy rock and the foundation of all thy teaching, His love put passion into thy cry, His grace was the force and its affection was the warmth of thy preaching, His holiness shone in thee. As a small child, thou didst choose Jesus alone, And his light yoke dear to thee was found; Because of him everything was loss to thee Except bearing the cross and following his footprints. Offer thy hand to lead us and protect us, Give across our dear land thy help, Bring us to God obediently to confess Jesus as Head and King forever to us. - - - - - O sacred David, thou didst call the land constantly Along vast centuries to the days that shall be, From age to age we listen, despite all strife, To thy words: "Be joyful, keep the faith." O Great Saint David, still we hear thee call us, Unto a life that knows no fear of death; Yea, down the ages, will thy words enthral us, Strong happy words: "Be joyful, keep the faith." Christ was the centre rock of all thy teaching, God's holy will – the splendour of its theme. His grace informed, his love inflamed thy preaching; Christ's sway on earth, the substance of thy dream. In early childhood, choosing Jesus only, Thy fervour showed his yoke was light and sweet! And thus for thee, life's journey was not lonely, The path made plain by prints of wounded feet. On Cambria's sons stretch out thy hands in blessing; For our dear land thy help we now implore. Lead us to God, with humble hearts confessing Jesus, as Lord and King for evermore. - - - - - O Great Saint David, still we hear thee call us, Unto a life that knows no fear of death; Yea, down the ages, will thy words enthral us, Strong happy words: "Be joyful, keep the faith."
