Aberth ac offrwm nis mynaist

(Offrymiad Crist)
Aberth ac offrwm
   nis mynaist,
Ond corph a gymwysaist i mi,
'R aberthau nid oeddent ond cysgod,
Er dyfod o rhai'n fwy na rhi':
O'r diwedd daeth Sylwedd pob cysgod,
Caed Duwdod a dyndod yn un,
Gorphenwyd yr aberth dros bechod,
Gwnaeth gymmod heb neb ond ei hun.

"Pan ydoedd y cleddyf yn deffro,
  Yn taro ar ben Calfari,
Edrychais, 'r oedd pawb wedi ngadael,
O'r bobl 'd oedd neb gyda mi:"
Yr allor a ddaliodd yr aberth,
  A'r Aberth a ddaliodd y tân,
Am hyn y bydd holl byrth y nefoedd,
Yn ufudd yn agor o'i flaen.

(The Offering of Christ)
Sacrifice and offering
    thou didst not require,
But a body thou didst prepare for me,
The sacrifices were only a shadow,
  Although they came beyond number:
At last came the Substance of every shadow,
  Godhead and manhood became one,
The sacrifice for sin was finished,
He made Reconciliation wholly by himself.

"When the sword was awake,
Striking on the summit of Calvary,
I looked, everyone had deserted me,
Of the people there was no-one with me:"
'Twas the altar that held the sacrifice,
And the Sacrifice that held the fire,
Therefore all the portals of heaven shall
  Be obediently open before him.
tr. 2022 Richard B Gillion
