Bendigaid fyddo'r Arglwydd nef (Fy unig amddiffynfa gref)

(Salm 144)
Bendigaid fyddo'r Arglwydd nef,
Fy unig amddiffynfa gref;
  Fy nhŵr, fy nerth, fy nharian yw,
  Gwaredwr doeth eroied yw Duw.

O Arglwydd da! pa beth yw dyn,
I ti ymwel'd âg ef dy hun!
  Pan gydnabyddit
      ef â'th ras,
  Gan wneyd ei enaid cul yn fras!

Mae'r ddinas a fendigo Duw,
A'i meibion fel planigion gwiw;
  A'i merched mewn llewyrchiad llon,
  Yn feini hardd o fewn i hon.

Gwyn fyd y rhai y daw o'r nen,
Dy fendith beunydd ar eu pen;
  Gwyn fyd y bobl
      sydd felly'n byw,
  Gwyn fyd y rhai mae ganddynt Dduw.

(Psalm 144)
Blessed be the Lord of heaven,
My only strong defence;
  My tower, my strength, my shield he is,
  My wise Deliverer ever is God.

O good Lord! what is man,
For thee to visit him thyself!
  When thou didst recognise
      him with thy grace,
  Making his narrow soul fat!

The city may God bless,
With its sons like worthy plants;
  With its daughters in a cheerful gleam,
  As beautiful stones within this.

Blessed are those who come from the sky,
Thy daily blessing on their head;
  Blessed are the people
      who are living thus,
  Blessed are those who have God.
tr. 2019 Richard B Gillion
(Psal. CXLIV)
 1 Forever blessed be God the Lord,
     who does his needful aid impart,
   At once both strength and skill afford
     to wield my arms with warlike art.
 2 His goodness is my fort and tow'r,
     my strong deliv'rance and my shield
   In him I trust, whose matchless pow'r
     makes to my sway fierce nations yield.
 3 Lord, what's in man,
       that thou should'st love
     of him such tender care to take?
   What in his offspring could thee move
     such great account of him to make?
12 Then our young sons
       like trees shall grow,
     well planted in some fruitful place;
   Our daughters shall like pillars show,
     designed some royal court to grace.
15 Thrice happy is that people's case,
     whose various blessings thus abound;
   Who God's true worship still embrace,
     and are with his protection crowned.
