Beth am y nos wyliedydd?

("Wyliedydd, Beth am y Nos?")
Beth am y nos, wyliedydd?
Y nos sy'n toi ar fyd?
Pa bryd y daw dros wledydd
  Oleuni'r nef? pa bryd?
Duodd ein daear deg yn awr,
Gwisgodd amdani'r fagddu fawr:
Cyhoedda fuan doriad gwawr,
  Wyliedydd Seion.

Pa bryd y daw gobeithion
  Proffwydi'r Iôr i ben,
Pan welir daear, weithion,
Yng ngwisg y nef yn wen?
Peidied y maith ryfeloedd mwy,
Gormes a baid pan beidiant hwy:
Cyhoedda'r sôn am fyd di-glwy',
  Wyliedydd Seion.

Beth am y dydd, wyliedydd? -
Y dydd sy'n dod ar fyd?
Pa bryd y troir y gwledydd
  Yn Deyrnas Dduw? pa bryd?
Gwynfyd yn fôr yn hon a fydd,
A hedd yn rhan myrddiynau rhydd:
Cyhoedda'r diymachlud ddydd,
  Wyliedydd Seion.

("Watchman, What of the Night?")
What about the night, Watchman?
The night that is roofing over a world?
When shall the light of heaven come
  Over the lands? When?
Our fair earth blackened now,
It wore about it the great pitch-blackness:
Publish soon the break of dawn,
  Watchman of Zion.

When shall the hopes of the
Prophets of the Lord come to pass,
When the earth is seen, sometime,
White in the clothing of heaven?
May the vast wars cease evermore,
Oppression shall cease when they cease:
Publish soon the break of dawn,
  Watchman of Zion.

What of the day, Watchman? -
The day which is come upon the world?
When shall the lands be turned
Into the Kingdom of God? When?
Blessed as a sea as this shall be,
And peace as the portion of free myriads:
Publish the unsetting day,
  Watchman of Zion.
