Clod i Dduw am ei ysgrythyr, Addysg gywir geir yn hon; Nawdd i'r euog, gras i'r aflan, I'r annyddan heddwch llon; Rhyddid llawn i'r caeth a'r llwythog, I'r blinderog esmwythâd, Ac i holl alarwyr Seion Y cysuron pura'n rhâd. Buddiol yw i athrawiaethu, I geryddu anwar rai: Mewn cyfíawnder i hyfforddi, Ac i ddangos ini'n bai: Nodir ynddi ffbrdd y bywyd, I ochelyd uffern ddu; Ffordd i'n dwyn trwy afon angeu I drìgfanau'r gwynfyd fry. Gras i'w darllain, dyro, Iesu, Ac i'w dysgu heb lesgâu; Gras i'w chwilio, gras i'w gwrando, Ac i'm mewn ei gwir fwynhau: Pel y meddwyf hir amynedd, A diddanwch dan y groes; Ac am fywyd sy'n anfarwol, Gobaith bywiol trwy fy oes. Praise to God for his scripture, True teaching is found in this; Refuge for the guilty, grace for the unclean, For the comfortless, cheerful peace; Full freedom for the captive and the burdened, To the wearied, relief, And to all the mourners of Zion The purest comforts freely. Beneficial is its teaching, To rebuke the unruly: In righteousness to train, And to show to us our fault: Stated in it is the way of life, To avoid black hell; A way to bear us through death's river To the dwellings of blessedness above. Grace to read, grant, O Jesus, And to learn without growing weary; Grace to search it, grace to listen to it, And within me truly to enjoy it: That I may possess long-suffering, And comfort under the cross; And for life that is immortal, A lively hope throughout my lifespan. tr. 2023 Richard B Gillion |
