Crist archodd, At y bobloedd ewch, Eu dysgu a'i bedyddio wnewch; A'i air derbyniodd pobloedd lu, 'Nol iddo fyn'd i'r nefoedd fry. Mae'n eiste a'r fryniau Sion draw, A gras a phardwn yn ei law; Ac enfyn ei gyfammod rhad, A'i seliau i fendithio'n gwlad. Dweud y mae ef, Edifarhewch, Bedyddier chwi, fel hynny cewch Faddeuant pechod gan Dduw'r nef, Deallwn lais ei 'fengyl ef. Ein henaid ylch ef yn ei wa'd, Fel corph sy'n cael mewn dw'r lanhâd; A'i Yspryd Glân o'r nef a ddaw Drachefn i'w buro megis gwlaw. Rhoi'n hun fel hyn 'ry'm i Dduw'r nef, A selio'n hammod rwym ag ef; O beod y Tri trag'wyddol mawr Yn dyst o'n haddunedau 'nawr.Dafydd Jones 1711-77 Hymnau a Chaniadau Ysprydol 1775 [Mesur: MH 8888] |
Christ commanded, To the people go ye, Teach them and baptise them do; And his word a host of peoples received, After he went to heaven above. He is sitting on the hills of Zion yonder, With grace and pardon in his hand; And he will send his free covenant, With its seals to bless our land. Saying he is, "Repent ye, Be ye baptised," thus "ye shall get Forgiveness of sin by the God of heaven", Let us undestand the voice of his gospel. Our soul he shall wash in his blood, As a body gets cleansing in water; And his Holy Spirit from heaven shall come Back again to purify it like rain. Giving ourselves thus we are to the God of heaven, And sealing our binding terms with to him; O may the great, eternal Three As a testimony of our vows now.tr. 2017 Richard B Gillion |
'Twas the commission of our Lord, "Go teach the nations, and baptize:" The nations have received the word Since He ascended to the skies. He sits upon th'eternal hills, With grace and pardon in His hands; And sends His cov'nant with the seals, To bless the distant British lands. "Repent, and be baptized," He saith, "For the remission of your sins:" And thus our sense assists our faith, And shows us what His Gospel means. Our souls He washes in His blood, As water makes the body clean; And the good Spirit from our God Descends like purifying rain. Thus we engage ourselves to Thee, And seal our cov'nant with the Lord; O may the great eternal Three In Heav'n our solemn vows record!Isaac Watts 1674-1748
