Daeth Prynwr dynol-ryw

Daeth Prynwr dynol-ryw
  yn fyw o'i fedd
A disglair ddelw Duw
  yn harddu'i wedd;
Dymchwelodd deyrnas gaeth
  hen deyrn marwolaeth du:
Rhaid ydoedd rhoi rhyddhad
  i'n Ceidwad cu.

Gwnaeth waith y cymod hedd
  mewn llwyredd llawn,
Mae'i feddrod gwag yn dweud
  ei wneud yn Iawn;
Trwy'r codi rhoes y Tad
  fawrhad ar Galfari,
A thorrodd gwawr ar nos
  ein hachos ni.

Yng ngolau'r trydydd dydd
  cwyd ffydd ei phen,
Gwêl Iesu'n selio'i hawl
  i fawl nef wen;
A thrwy'i ddyrchafiad ef
  gwêl hefyd nef i'w saint,
Nef lawn o ddwyfol hedd:
  O ryfedd fraint!

The Redeemer of humankind came
  To life from his grave
With the shining image of God
  Adorning his his countenance
He overturned the kingdom of captivity
  The old tyrant of black death:
It was necessary to give freedom
  To our dear Saviour.

He did the work of the reconciliation of peace
  In total completeness,
His empty tomb says
  His making is a satisfaction;
Through the rising the Father gave
  Exaltation on Calvary,
And the dawn broke upon night
  On our account.

In the light of the third day
  Faith raises its head,
It sees Jesus sealing his right
  To the praise of bright heaven;
And through his rising
  It sees the pleasant heaven to his saints,
Heaven full of divine peace:
  O wonderful privilege!
tr. 2008 Richard B Gillion
