Dy olau di fy Nuw

Dy olau di, fy Nuw,
  Yn wyneb Iesu mawr
Yw f'unig obaith mwy
  Ar dywyll ffyrdd y llawr;
Y sêr a'm llywiai dro,
  Fe'u collais hwy i gyd
O dan gymylau braw
  A'r niwl a guddiai'r byd.

Dilynais lwybrau lu
  Wrth lamp fy neall gwan,
A disgwyl gweled drwy
  Bob dryswch yn y man;
Mi wn yn awr nad oes
  Oleuni ynof fi
Ond digon i ddyheu
  Am ddydd dy gariad di.

Fy ngweddi fo am gael
  Yr Iesu'n arglwydd im,
Ac ef yn bopeth mwy
  A mi fy hun yn ddim,
Yn ddim ond llusern frau
  O ddal ei olau ef,
I'm tywys heibio i'r nos
  At fore claer y nef.

Tonau [6666D]:
Dolwyddelan (Meiningisches Gesangbuch )
Ymostyngiad (William J Evans 1866-1947)

Thy light, my God,
  In the face of great Jesus
Is my only hope evermore
  On the dark road of earth below;
The stars that led me for a while,
  I lost them all
Under clouds of terror
  And the fog that hid the world.

I followed a host of paths
  By the lamp of my weak understanding,
And expected to see through
  Every perplexity before long;
I know now that there is no
  Light within me
But sufficient to long
  For the day of thy love.

May my prayer be for getting
  Jesus as my Lord,
And he as everything evermore
  And I myself as nothing,
As nothing but a fragile lantern
  To hold his light,
To lead me beyond the night
  To the bright morning of heaven.
tr. 2022 Richard B Gillion
