Diolch am ddatguddiad dwyfol

(Gwerth y Gair)
Diolch am ddatguddiad dwyfol,
  Gair y digelwyddog Dduw,
Gair y cymod, i mi'r euog,
  Gair yr iechydwriaeth yw;
Ynddo gwelwn berffeithderau
  'R Dywdod mewn gogoniant mawr,
Yn arbediad, ac achubiaeth
  Pechaduriaid gwaetha'r llawr.

Gwell nag aur, a gwell nag arian,
  Yw Dy air, O Dduw, i mi;
Ymhyfrydu byddo'm henaid
  Beunydd yn Dy gyfraith Di.
Rho oleuni, fel y gwelwyf
  Bethau rhyfedd D'air o hyd:
Plyg f'ewyllys i'w ddylanwad,
  Ato sugna'm serch a'm bryd.
William Williams 1717-91

(The Worth of the Word)
Thanks for divine revelation,
  The word of the unlying God,
The word of reconciliation, to me the guilty,
  The word of salvation it is;
In it we see the perfections
  Of the Godhead in great glory,
In sparing, and saving
  The worst sinners of the earth.

Better than gold, and better than silver,
  Is Thy word, O God, to me;
Delighting be my soul
  Daily in Thy law.
Give light, so shall I see
  Wonderful things of Thy word always:
Bend my will to its influence,
  To it suck my affection and my attention.
tr. 2015 Richard B Gillion
