The God of Abraham, praise him! The almighty God, The Ancient of Days, the King of heaven, God, love he is. To the Lord, immeasurable Being, Let there be praise of heaven and earth; I will bow, and I will render praise To the great name. The God of Abraham, praise him! His all-sufficient ability Who supports me upon my journey to heaven Very safely; To a weak one like me He calls himself God; Through the blood of his Son on Calvary He keeps me alive. Although the flesh is weak, Despite the force of the world, Through grace I will come to a pleasant place My cosy home; I will swim the depth of death With my gaze on dear Jesus; I will go through the horrible vast desert To the Canaan above. The whole multitude of heaven which sings In thanks in agreement To the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit - Their praise is one: O hail, unfailing Lord; I will extol with them The God of Abraham and my own God forever Without holding my peace any more. tr. 2008 Richard B Gillion |
The God of Abraham praise, Who reigns enthroned above; Ancient of everlasting days, and God of Love; Jehovah, great I AM! by earth and Heav'n confessed; I bow and bless the sacred Name forever blessed. The God of Abraham praise, Whose all sufficient grace Shall guide me all my happy days, in all my ways. He calls a worm His friend, He calls Himself my God! And He shall save me to the end, through Jesus' blood. Tho' nature's strength decay, and earth and hell withstand, To Canaan's bounds I urge my way, at His command. The wat'ry deep I pass, with Jesus in my view; And through the howling wilderness my way pursue. The whole triumphant host give thanks to God on high; "Hail, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost," they ever cry. Hail, Abraham's God, and mine! (I join the heav'nly lays,) All might and majesty are Thine, and endless praise.
