Edrychaf i'r mynyddoed draw

Edrychaf i'r mynyddoed draw,
O'r man lle daeth, o'r man lle daw
  Fy nghymorth parod iawn;
Fy nghymorth ddaw oddiwrtho ef,
Yr hwn a greodd ddae'r a nef,
  Fy nerth, fy noddfa lawn.

Dy droed i lithro, ef ni ad,
Ni huna byth dy Geidwad mad -
  Hen Geidwad Israel yw;
Bydd ef, i'th gadw rhag pob braw,
Yn gysgod ar dy ddeheu law;
  Yn ddiogel byddi byw.
William Rees (Gwilym Hiraethog) 1802-83

Tonau [886D]:
Chapel Royal (William Boyce 1710-79)
Ravendale (Walter Stokes 1847-1916)

I look to yonder mountains,
From where came, from where comes
  My very ready help;
My help comes from him,
The one who created earth and heaven,
  My strength, my full refuge.

Thy feet to slip, he will not let,
Nor will thy honourable Saviour ever sleep -
  The Old Saviour of Israel is he;
He will be, to keep thee from every terror,
A shade at thy right hand;
   Safely wilt thou live.
tr. 2010 Richard B Gillion
