Ef a wylodd! Pwy a wylodd?
  Wylodd Iesu mawr ei hun;
Wylodd myrdd o'i flaen, ond heddyw
  Wyla Duw mewn natur dyn!

Ef a wylodd! pa'm yr wylodd?
  Nid o'i achos ol' ei hun;
Ond fe wylodd o dosturi,
  Uwch ben cyflwr euog dyn.

Ef a wylodd! pan oedd tyrfa
  Fawr yn cyd-ddyrchafu llef,
Hyd y nefoedd i'w foliannu,
  Gwnai pawb ond wylai ef;

Ef a wylodd! pan y gwelai
  Salem fawr ar fyn'd yn sarn,
A dialydd ar ei dryllio
  A churfeydd
      y chwerwaf farn.

Ef a wylodd! rhyfedd gariad
  At elynion drwg eu rhyw,
Yn ei ddagrau, cawn esboniad
  Ar deimladau calon Duw.

Ef a wylodd! do, bechadur,
  Gwel ei ddagrau, clyw ei gri,
Wylodd drosot o dosturi,
  Bellach ai ni wyli di?

It is He who wept! Who wept?
  Great Jesus himself wept;
A myriad wept before, but today
  God weeps in the nature of man!

It is He who wept! Why did he weep?
  Not on his own account;
But he wept from pity,
  Over the condition of guilty man.

It is he who wept! when the great crowd
  Were together lifting up a cry,
As far as heaven to praise him,
  All would do but he wept;

It is he who wept! when he could see
  Great Jerusalem being trampled,
And doubtless over its shattering
  And the pounding of
     the bitterest judgment.

It is he who wept! wonderful love
  Towards enemies of their evil kind,
In his tears, we get a demonstration
  Of the feelings of the heart of God.

It is he who wept! yes, sinner,
  See his tears, hear his cry,
He wept for thee from mercy,
  Henceforth wilt thou not weep?

Lo, He wept! Who, then, is He?
