Edrych ar yr Iesu

Look away to Jesus

("Gan edrych ar Iesu")
Edrych ar yr Iesu,
    Enaid yn dy wae;
Ef yw'r hwn fu farw
    I dy gyfiawnhau:
  Cydymdeimlo a'th wendid,
      Maddeu'th feiau wna;
  Edrych ar yr Iesu,
      Enaid, llawenha!

Edrych ar yr Iesu,
    Filwr yn y gad;
Cofia'i addewidion
    Cofia'i gymorth rhad:
  Os yw'th waith yn galed,
      Os yw'th nerth yn wan;
   Edrych ar yr Iesu,
       Hwn a'th ddeil i'r lan.

Edrych ar yr Iesu,
    Pan yw'r nef yn glir;
Cofia fod peryglon
    Fyth ar for a thir:
  Yn mleserau'r ddaear,
      Nid oes dim o werth;
  Edrych ar yr Iesu,
      Fel dy unig nerth.

Edrych ar yr Iesu,
    O mor hyfryd fydd;
Wedi dechreu canu,
    Mewn diderfyn ddydd:
  O mor felus yno,
      Fyth ei lon fwynhau,
  Edrych ar yr Iesu,
      A'i wel'd fel y mae!

Tôn [65.65.65.65.D]: Edrych ar yr Iesu
    (Philip P Bliss 1838-76)

("Looking unto Jesus")
Look to Jesus,
    Soul in thy woe;
He it is who died
    To justify thee:
  Sympathise with thy weakness,
      Forgive thy faults he will;
  Look to Jesus,
      Soul, rejoice!

Look to Jesus,
    Soldier in the battle;
Remember his promises
    Remember his free help:
  If thy work is hard,
      If thy strength is weak;
  Look to Jesus,
      He will hold thee up.

Look to Jesus,
    When heaven is clear;
Remember that there are always
    Dangers on sea and land:
  In the pleasures of the earth,
      There is nothing of worth;
  Looking to Jesus,
      As thy only strength.

Look to Jesus,
    O how lovely it will be;
Having started to sing,
    In endless day:
  O how sweet there,
      Forever enjoying him cheerfully,
  Looking to Jesus,
      And seeing him as he is!
tr. 2019 Richard B Gillion

Look away to Jesus,
    Soul by woe oppressed;
'Twas for thee He suffered:
    Come to Him and rest;
  All thy griefs He carried,
      All thy sins He bore;
  Look away to Jesus:
      Trust Him evermore.

Look away to Jesus,
    Soldier in the fight;
When the battle thickens,
    Keep thine armor bright;
  Though thy foes be many,
      Though thy strength be small,
  Look away to Jesus;
      He shall conquer all.

Look away to Jesus,
    When the skies are fair;
Calm seas have their dangers;
    Mariner, beware!
  Earthly joys are fleeting,
      Going as they came,
  Look away to Jesus,
      Evermore the same.

When, amid the music
    Of the endless feast,
Saints will sing His praises,
    Thine shall not be least;
  Then, amid the glories
      Of the crystal sea,
  Look away to Jesus,
      Through eternity.
Henry Burton 1840-1930
