Fy Nghrewr mawr rho i mi ras

(Gweddi'r Ieuanc)
Fy Nghrewr mawr rho i mi ras
  I'th gweisio di yn foreu;
Rhag im' yn ngwaith y gelyn cas
  Gamdreulio f'amser goreu.

O cuddia yn fy nghalon i
  Dy ymadroddion grasol
Rhag i mi yn dy erbyn di
  Droseddu'n anystyriol.

Rhag arferiadau drwg yr oes,
  Rho galon i mi gilio;
Ar ol y Gwr fu ar y groes,
  Yn unig, dysg fi rodio.

Fe fydd dy gofio, yn ddiau,
  Yn nyddiau fy ieuenctyd;
Byth i'm yn destyn llawenhau,
  Ar fryniau anfarwolfyd.

Tôn [MS 8787]: Gweddi'r Ieuanc (William H Jones)

(The Prayer of the Young)
My great Creator, give to me grace
  To seek thee in the morning;
Lest I, in the work of the detestable enemy
  Misspend my best time.

O hide in my heart
  Thy gracious sayings
Lest I against thee
  Transgress inconsiderately.

From the evil practices of the age,
  Give a heart to me to retreat;
After the Man who was on the cross,
  Alone, teach me to walk.

Remembering thee shall be, doubtless,
  In the days of my youth;
Forever to me a theme of rejoicing,
  On the hills of an immortal world.
tr. 2022 Richard B Gillion
