Fe genfydd Duw y drwg a'r da

(Hollbresenoldeb Duw)
Fe genfydd Duw y drwg a'r da,
  Pa le'r ymguddia'r euog,
Yn berffaith ddirgel byth ar goll,
  Oddi_wrth yr Hollalluog?

Dirgelaidd lwybrau dynolryw,
  Sydd amlwg i'w olygon;
A'i holl-wybodol yspryd clau,
  A chwilia giliau'r galon.

Mae Duw yn gwybod yn ddi-ludd,
  Bob gair sydd ar ein gwefus;
Dichellion dyfnion enaid dyn,
  I Dduw bob un sydd hyspys.

Y cefnos ddû, fel canol dydd,
  I'w olwg ef sydd oleu:
Dychryned y pechadur hy,
  Sy'n gwadu ei bechodau.

Ei rasol bresenoldeb ef,
  A leinw nef y nefoedd;
Ac ofna lluoedd uffern gaeth,
  Y Bôd a wnaeth y bydoedd.
Benjamin Francis 1734-99

(The Omnipresence of God)
God perceives the evil and the good,
  Where can the guilty hide,
Perfectly secret forever lost,
  From the Almighty?

The private paths of humankind,
  Are evident to his views;
And his omniscient, true spirit,
  Searches the recessess of the heart.

God knows unhindered,
  Every word which is on our lip;
The deep deceptions of the soul of man,
  To God every one is familiar.

The black midnight, like midday,
  To his sight is light:
Let the haughty sinner be terrified,
  Who is denying his sins.

His gracious presence
  Shall fill the heaven of heavens;
And the captive hosts of hell shall fear,
  The Being who made the worlds.
