Gwel O enaid rhwng gelynion, Ar y greulon chwerw groes, Dduw a cheidwad gwael bechadur, Yn ei lafur dan ei loes; Cofia'r gwpan sur a yfodd Crist, o'i lwyrfodd yn dy le; Nid oes enw all aferyd I ni fywyd ond efe. O! mor hyfryd gan angylion, Wel'd ei berson yn y byd; O! mor helaeth trwy'i gnawdoliaeth, Daeth yr iachawdwriaeth ddrud! Hyn oedd hynod faith ryfeddod, Weled hanfod Duw ei hun, Yn y ddinerth natur ddynol, Er mwyn marwol, ddamniol ddyn. Cyfod Sïon dy olygon, Gwel yr afon ddysglae wiw, Gwel yn eglur dy benadur, Yn y frwydr dan ei friw: Dyma'r unig gyfaill ffyddlon, Dyddiwr union da ei reddf, Rho'es anrhydedd gyfiawnder, Tynodd ddigter Duw a'i ddeddf. Dyma'r cadarn lew o Juda, Fyth o'n dalfa ddaeth i'n dwyn, O fy enaid nac anghofia Ben Calfaria er ei fwyn: Ca'dd y ddedf ei hanrhydeddu, A dyrchafu'r Iesu wnaed, Tynodd golyn angau creulon, Trwy ei wiwlon rasol waed.Robert Williams (Robert ap Gwilym Ddu) 1766-1850 Gardd Eifion 1841 [Mesur: 8787D] |
See O soul between enemies, On the cruel, bitter cross, The God and saviour of a base sinner, In his labour under his throes; Remember the sour cup he drnk Christ, of his free will in thy place; There is no name that can restore To us life but he. O how delightful to angels, To see his person in the world; O how generous through his incarnation, Came the costly salvation! This was a notably extensive wonder, To see the essence of God himself, In the weakened human nature, For the sake of mortal, condemned man. Raise, Zion, thy sight, See the shining, worthy river, See clearly thy chief, In the battle under his bruise: Here is the only faithful friend, An upright Comforter of a good nature, He honoured righteousness, He drew the wrath of God and his law. Here is the firm lion of Judah, Forever from our prison to came to bring us, O my soul, do not forget The summit of Calvary for his sake: The law got honoured, And exalted let Jesus get, He drew the sting of cruel death, Through his worthy, gracious blood.tr. 2015 Richard B Gillion |
