Gwynfyd y rhai sy'n awr mewn hedd

(Dedwyddwch y pererin gartref)
Gwynfyd y rhai sy'n awr mewn hedd,
Heb boen na braw tu draw i'r bedd;
  Yn moli Duw y funyd hon,
  Yn y trag'wyddol oesoedd lon.

'Rwyf finau'n profi lawer pryd,
Ryw fyned adref yn fy mryd;
  Mae hiraeth beunydd tan fy mron,
  Am fod gerllaw fy Mhrynwr llon.

Y'mhlith y dorf o rif y sêr,
Sy'n a'u t'lynau aur
    yn canu'n bêr;
  Trag'wyddol glod am farwol glwy,
  Yw sylwedd eu caniadau hwy.

Rhyfeddu rwyf, rhyfeddu wnaf,
Os gwelir un ag sydd nor glâf;
  Yn moli'r Oen,
      heb boen na braw,
  O fewn i dref Caersalem draw.
Caniadau Bethel (Casgliad Evan Edwards) 1840

[Mesur: MH 8888]

(The happiness of the pilgrim at home)
Blessed are those who are now in peace,
Without pain or terror beyond the grave;
  Praising God this minute,
  In the cheerful, eternal ages.

I too am experiencing many a time,
Some going home in my mind;
  There is daily longing under my breast,
  To be nearby my cheerful Redeemer.

Amidst the throng numerous as the stars,
Who with their golden harps are
    playing sweetly;
  Eternal praise for a mortal wound,
  Is the substance of their songs.

Wondering I am, wonder I shall do,
If I see one who is so ill;
  Praising the Lamb,
      without pain or terror,
  Within the town of Jerusalem yonder.
tr. 2016 Richard B Gillion
