Hoeliedig wrth y gwarthus bren

Hoeliedig wrth y gwarthus bren
  Gwel Iesu, Ceidwad dyn;
O ryfedd gariad! drosof fi
  Oen Duw sy'n rhoi ei Hun!

O clyw ei ruddfan, dae'r a gryn,
  Cryma colofnau'r byd;
Fe rwyga'r llen, a'r creigiau hyll
  A holltant yr un pryd.

"Derbyn fy yspryd" yw ei lef,
  "Gorphenwyd" - taliad gawd:
Gwel lle gogwydda'i sanctaidd ben,
  Gwel farw Crist dy Frawd.

Ond buan tyr
    gadwynau'r bedd,
  Fe gyfyd mewn mawr fri;
Ddwyfol Oen! p'le gwelir fath
  Dy ing a'th gariad Di!
Emynau ... yr Eglwys (Daniel Evans) 1883

[Mesur: MC 8686]

Nailed to the shameful tree
  See Jesus, the Saviour of man;
O wonderful love! for me
  The Lamb of God is giving Himself!

O hear his groan, earth does shake,
  The pillars of the world bend;
The curtain tears, and the ugly rocks
  Split at the same time.

"Receive my spirit" is his cry,
  "It is finished" - a payment is had:
See where he bows his sacred head,
  See Christ thy Brother die.

But soon shall break
    the chains of the grave,
  He will rise in great renown;
Divine Lamb! where is to be seen the like
  Of thy anguish and Thy love?
