Iehofa/Jehofa'n Frenin sy

The Lord Jehovah reigns

1,(2,3),4.
(Mawredd a gras Duw)
  Jehofa'n Frenin sy
    A'i orsedd yn y nef;
  Goleuni a mawredd fry
    Sy'n wisgoedd iddo ef:
Ei ddysglaer wedd, mor danbaid yw,
Nas gall un dyn ei wel'd a byw.

  Taranau'i law bob pryd
    Dychrynu'r byd a wnan';
  Cyfiawnder Duw a'i lid
    Sy'n gwylio'i gyfraith lān;
Lle caro ef bendithio mae,
A geiriau'i ras
      mae'n gadarnhau.

  Doethineb rhyfedd sy
    'N dyscleirio trwy'i holl waith;
  C'wilyddia uffern lu,
    A thỳr eu'mcanion maith:
Ei fraich gwblha (mae hon yn gref)
Ei arfaeth a'i ewyllys ef.

  A blyg 'fath Frenin mawr
    O'i ogoneddus fri?
  A rhoi ei enw'i lawr
    Yn Dad a Ffrynd i mi?
'Rwy'n caru ei air a'i enw ef,
O f'enaid, mawl yr Arglwydd nef.

  Jehofa'n Frenin sy
    Mae'i orsedd yn y nef;
  Goleuni a mawredd fry
    Sy'n wisgoedd iddo ef:
'I ogoniant mawr mor ddisglaer yw,
Ni all un dyn ei wel'd a byw.

  Doethineb ryfedd sy
    I'w chanfod yn ei waith;
  Fe drecha uffern ddu,
    A'i holl amcanion maith:
Ei fraich a wna - mae hon yn gref
Ei arfaeth a'i ewyllys ef.

  A blyg 'fath Frenin mawr
    O'i ogoneddus fri,
  A rhoi ei enw lawr
    Yn Dduw a Thad i mi?
O f'enaid cār yr Arglwydd nef,
Rhyfedda byth ei gariad ef.

(The majesty and grace of God)
  Jehovah is our King
    With his throne in heaven;
  Light and majesty above
    Are garments for him:
His shining face, so fiery it is,
That no man can see it and live.

  The thunders of his hand every time
    Terrify the world they do;
  The righteousness of God and his wrath
    Are guarding his holy law;
Where he loves, blessing he is,
With the words of his grace
      he is confirming.

  Amazing wisdom is
    Shining through his whole work;
  It will shame hell's host,
    And break their vast intentions:
His arm will fulfil (this is strong)
His purpose and his will.

  Will such a great King bend
    From his glorious renown?
  And put his name down
    As Father and Friend to me?
I am loving his word and his name,
O my soul, praise the Lord of heaven.

  Jehovah is a King
    His throne is in heaven;
  Light and majesty above
    Are garments for him:
His great glory so radiant is,
No man can see him and live.

  Wonderful wisdom is
    To be found in his work;
  It overcomes black hell,
    And all its vast schemes:
His arm will do - this is strong
His purpose and his will.

  And will such a great King bend
    From his glorious renown,
  And put his name down
    As God and Father to me?
O my soul, love the Lord of heaven,
Wonder forever at his love.
tr. 2015,16 Richard B Gillion

  The Lord Jehovah reigns;
    His throne is built on high.
  The garments He assumes
    Are light and majesty.
His glories shine with beams so bright
No mortal eye can bear the sight.

  The thunders of His hand
    Keep the wide world in awe;
  His wrath and justice stand
    To guard His holy law.
And where His love resolves to bless,
His truth confirms
      and seals the grace.

  Through all His ancient works
    Surprising wisdom shines,
  Confounds the powers of hell,
    And breaks their cursed designs:
Strong is His arm, and shall fulfil
His great decrees, his sovereign will.

  And will this mighty king
    Of glory condescend?
  And will He write His name:
    "My father and my friend?"
I love His name; I love His Word.
Join all my powers, to praise the Lord!
