I lawr o'r nef edrychodd Iôn

PSALM 14. (ad. 2,3,7.) -
Nid oes a wnel ddaioni, nac oes un.
I lawr o'r nef
    edrychodd Iôn,
  Ar feibion dynion yn y byd,
I wel'd ymgeisiai neb â Duw,
  Gan ddechreu byw yn gall ryw bryd.

Fe giliodd pawb at lygredd byd,
  Ymdroent i gyd mewn brynti mawr;
Nid oes a wnel yn well na hyn,
  Nac un a fyn ddaioni'n awr.

O pwy all roi in' bawb o'r bron
  O Sïon uchel iechyd llawn!
'Does neb ond Duw,
    a hyn pan wnel,
  Y rhai a'i gwel fydd hyfryd iawn.

PSALM 14. (vv. 2,3,7.) -
There is none who does good, no not one.
Down from heaven
    the Lord looked,
  On the sons of men in the world,
To see that none would seek God,
  By starting to live wisely some time.

Everyone retreated to a corrupt world,
  They turned themselves in a great filth;
There is no-one who does better than this,
  Not one who insists on goodness now.

Oh, who can give us all utterly
  From high Zion full wholeness!
There is no-one but God,
    and when he does this,
  Those who see it shall delight greatly.
tr. 2015 Richard B Gillion
PSAL. XIV.

2 The Lord looked down
      from heav'n's high tow'r,
    and all the sons of men did view,
  To see if any owned his pow'r,
    if any truth or justice knew.

3 But all he saw were gone aside,
    all were degen'rate grown and base,
  None took religion for their guide,
    not one of all the sinful race.

7 Would he his saving pow'r employ
    to break his people's servile band;
  Then shouts
      of universal joy
    should loudly echo through the land.
